There, there nawlinslady, Okechobee posted 22 minutes ago that they are testing a fix. Let's all cross our fins that it works.

On that same topic I have to say that although I am not happy with the current situation, I do understand that *&((% happens. I have done a very tiny bit of programming and even that little bit made me want to stick pins in my eyes. I can't imagine how much code there must be for a game of this complexity. To go through line by line and find the one little piece that is causing this problem...well, my hat's off to them. Hopefully this will be resolved before the long holiday weekend, 'cause it would really stink to be off till Monday with no MCF to play

Do the following:

1) Close the game if it's running.

2) Find your save profile data, mine was located at:
C:\Users\*UserName*\AppData\Roaming\Big Fish Games\Mystery Case Files 13th Skull CE\Master Detective.profile

(Replace *UserName* with your Windows user name)

3) Open it using Notepad.exe or another text editor.

4) Find this spot:
<Stage>
<Name>OpenTrapDoor</Name>
<Complete>false</Complete>
</Stage>

5) Change it to:
<Stage>
<Name>OpenTrapDoor</Name>
<Complete>true</Complete>
<CompleteTriggered>true</CompleteTriggered>
</Stage>

6) Save the profile data

7) Restart the game, and now you are allowed to find the Goblets.

Hope this helps

fredFish,

Being cautious by nature, and knowing that my computer is, in fact, out to get me, I will wait a bit longer and see if BF comes up with solution. If not, I will give this a whirl. What I want to know, however, is how in the HECK did you come up with this? I am impressed!

ETA: When you say "Restart the game" do you mean (oh the horror) from the beginning?

Thank goodness! Your fix is looking better by the second!

ETA: just noticed that your answer was also your second post. Welcome to the pond, fredFish, seems like you could be a very useful fish to have around

First, thanks for the info. Please forgive me, but I am not very computer literate...but when you say save the profile data in step 6, do you mean save it on notepad?

I looked under there. I don't have a file or anything labeled "users". I'm so bummed.

Oh no! Well I was able to use this fix to get past the goblet issue, but now I seem to be at another impasse---I'm supposed to use an object that the walkthrough says I should find in a hidden object search in the attic, but there are no sparkles and nothing to search for there! And I don't have the object in my inventory! Ahhhhhhhh.

I didn't go back a second time to try. But it was inside a BigFishGames folder, somewhere in MyDocs, I believe. Takes a bit of digging. I'm going to wait for the official fix, myself.

2) Find your save profile data, mine was located at:
C:\Users\*UserName*\AppData\Roaming\Big Fish Games\Mystery Case Files 13th Skull CE\Master Detective.profile

Remember If you put a name in at the beginning that's your "profile name".
Therefore the save profile will be in :

C:\Users\*UserName*\AppData\Roaming\Big Fish Games\Mystery Case Files 13th Skull CE\"profile name".profile

Mine was:
C:\Users\*UserName*\AppData\Roaming\Big Fish Games\Mystery Case Files 13th Skull CE\David.profile

I have windows 7 and used wordpad to edit the file and the goblets are in the objective windoes!

I'm just seeing how this will be fixed. If it requires a complete start over, then I am asking for a refund and canceling my membership before my next credit comes through in 2 days.

Oh...I just meant that I feel awful about adking for a refund. I don't see myself leaving BFG anytime soon, even if the worker fishies leave the pond and swim home for the holiday.

There's always washing my dog.

Hi Mariner,
I also run Win7 and my file was in that location...
When you are using search try searching for "master detective.profile" (with the quotes). If it doesn't come up with results click on Computer (to make certain it searches locally). It may ask to index yoyr C drive (in order to be able to search).

Notice, that there are may be more than one version of the file. You must edit the one in the Mystery Case Files 13th Skull CE path.

Windows 7 Patch to profile folder on my machine.

C:\Documents and Settings\dreardon\AppData\Roaming\Big Fish Games\Mystery Case Files 13th Skull CE

Or just search for \Mystery Case Files 13th Skull CE on the C: drive.
