I'm really enjoying this game. The atmosphere, the graphics, the stories. I like talking with the characters. I'm not super good at iHOGs and don't play adventure games. So far this game has been playable without a walkthrough. Added bonus: I really like Poe and can see a number of these being released around his stories.

I played the 1 hr. trial and really liked the game. I've been thinking of buying it but saw that a lot of people have been having problems getting their profiles deleted after the 3rd part. Is this fixed yet or does anybody know? Thanks! sunrise.

I really enjoyed this game from the start. The graphics are great and the music is wonderful. Definitely one of my favorites.

Poodlebear wrote:Ok, super quicky review as we are actually doing something outside the house tomorrow (NO! ) and I gotta get to bed.

Initial impression after playing a little over an hour I'd guess is this is a good one. Excellent (if a bit dark) graphics, super cool story (love Edger Allen Poe and this is based on the real theories that he was murdered), good music. Obviously dark in tone as about a murder, or rather murders. Not gory tho.

Now about the Timer... not sure if there is one...? The game screens themselves have no timer but supposedly you are supposed to solve the mystery in 24 hours and as you exit there is a watch with time counting down. Someone who has time to play longer than I do atm can hopefully explore this more.

It is a junk pile Hidden Object, but things pretty easy to find and *mostly* make sense. (Um, microphone in Poe's time? Don't think so.) Puzzles are fun but so far very easy. Inventory puzzles are cursor change based but also logical. You've found a key so you look for something with a lock, yeah? Pretty easy but fun. Find ravens for extra hints, click on list names to see silohouette of object. Click too often and a creepy cat (the one eyed cat from The Black Cat! How cool is that!?) scares away your hints for a few seconds, no biggie.

I was concerned this was going to be super short as the opening chapters went very fast (based on walk-thru scan for length) BUT it seems now that I'm in the meat of the game as it were it's slowing considerably. First Poe story I'm investigating not done yet and I spent abt 40 minutes on it so far. There are 3 stories you "travel" to. Not gonna be super long but I imagine I'll make my 3+ hour happy place.

Ok, not so quickie after all... Anyway, a cautious (not played far enough and concerned about possible over all timer) Poodlebear Approved!

Got about half way thru and the game crashed. It wiped out the saved game and made me start over. I did not start over, it was good but not that good.

Sure would like to know why it crashed and took out the saved game. That has never happened before. Felt pretty cheated.

[b][i] Anyone that says this game is a great game is nuts. Granted, it does have great graphics, but it is the easiest game I have ever played. The puzzles are so easy that my 6 year old could do them. Don't waste your money on this.

My first post - I just had to say what a truly great game this is. It's a good length, not too gory, very interesting and the graphics, music and backgrounds add to the enjoyment of the game. A BIG THANKYOU for this and other long, complex, HOG games such as Return to Ravenhurst.(ravens again - coincidence?) I'm just sorry it's over (for now)

The first mystery to solve is the best. I enjoyed this game because it was very relaxing for a HOG. The graphics are good and the storyline is interesting. I hope they plan a series of these. I like how they intersected the stories of Marie and Mary. That was definitately different. I don't know about the music as I usually have the game's sounds on mute so I can listen to my own tunes..LOL. Most of the items are easy to find. I had to use my hints a few times.
