I absolutely loved this game. The graphics are marvelous, the extra tasks are fun and clever and the story is coherent. My only complaint is that everything is so small and sometimes almost invisible. Even so, I was able to complete everything, sometimes with hints, without running out of time except for one chapter I had to repeat. I wish game developers would figure out that a large section of their customer base is older people with bifocals.
With regard to the fountain, I had to click inside it a few times to clear the fuzziness and then a window popped up that said the fountain was now clean. I also found that I had to complete finding the items in the list before clicking on the red wheel resulted in more than a small water spout. Even then, I had to turn the wheel several times before the fountain worked properly.

I finished the game last night, too. I had the same problems others had: some objects so miniscule it was hard for these old eyes to find them. I had to replay most chapters, sometimes three times. Also, as someone else said, I hate the clanging noise when you get down to two minutes left of your time. Makes me so nervous it's hard to find anything else.
I discovered that to clear the fountain, you just have to click the green growth in the middle with the cursor, which gets rid of it. I wondered why the fountain was just a trickle when I did turn the handle; guess it was because I hadn't found all the objects yet.
I had to skip several of the mini-games. The one that really stumped me was the roses in the garden. I could make them grow taller with the fertilizer I had mixed, but every time I got leaves to grow, they fell off. After trying all sorts of combinations, thinking they had to be done in a certain order, I finally gave up and skipped it, and then they grew tall.
Does anyone have the answer to this puzzle? Because I might try playing the game over, and trying to finish all the mini-games.

Some of the objects were a little bit too small and hidden too well to see but I managed to finish the game. The length was a pleasant surprise after recently purchasing a couple of games that I finished in one sitting. This game kept me busy for days and was interesting and challenging. Thanks Big Fish and Jane Jensen...good work!
I've just finished playing this for the second time: I enjoyed it as a game very much. BUT am I the only person- perhaps only British person - really annoyed by all the non-English details? if you want to set a game in England is it really that difficult to get an English advisor on board when developing it ? Otherwise, why not just set it in the USA in the first place.
Some examples, large and small:
No death penalty here; no-one is going to be hanged.
Please have the locals and estate employees, etc., able to refer to Lord and Lady Leister correctly; "His Lordship", not "The Lord", etc.
Lydia, the daughter of a Lord growing up in the 1950s would have gone away to a public school, not attended the "Parish School" (what's that?)
An aristocratic family would not have a "parlor" or even "parlour" - at least get the spelling right - they would have a "drawing room" or "sitting room". The assistant gardener might possibly have a "parlour" but I'd be surprised.
If this is an English village, please give it an English Police Station and cell; the same applies to the Post Office
No guns and rifles lying around everywhere here; firearms are very strictly controlled.
The real Hereford is a cathedral city and the county town of Herefordshire, not a village.
