Marie - aloha nua loa ! I was just wondering where you had gone off to.

To all - does everyone have the Everest challenge? Surprisingly I finished on the first try which is pretty darned good for me (had to use one extra life, though). Received 3 shovels 100 coins and 2 hours of play.

Am just starting Bangkok and wouldn't go back to Los Angeles or New Orleans for love nor money; got out of those cities by the "skin of my teeth."

Hi kailuaauntie

Would like to go to Hawai one day .....
I like posting in this thread even if I still work (I guess I'm close to be a senior citizen since I'm almost 60 .... two years to go just today )
I have not time to post during the day and even if I would want, I have no wifi at work and 4G doesn't work very well)
So I have to wait the evening and sometimes I forget ....
And it takes time to read Jules' posts especially for me since English is not my mother language ....
Got the everest challenge on both Ipad and Iphone
Still have to play the 5th level on my Iphone and didn't start it on my Ipad yet ....

Marie, I am currently coming to the end of Barcelona, I have yet to deal with the infamous level 116, but I've been studying the posts on the city help thread to get ready, heard that it's a nasty one!

Grampa, I'm sorry. Thought you where in Shanghai. I think that the last monument in Barcelona needs a huge amount of blue hats.
Regarding Shanghai. The city is not easy. Difficult for me to tell you what strategy to use. I have no strategy myself. As I told in a previous post, I ship lots of resources and play the level 87 in Rome to get green gems. If you need advice on specific levels, let me know. I hope I'll be able to help you.
If I can't, someone else will be able to do it

I just put Hau'oli La Hanau into a google search, told it to translate to English, it seems its Hawaiian for Happy Birthday.

Surely there is an app out there somewhere that you can simply copy and paste entire paragraphs into and have it automatically translate it into any language? There are plenty of tranlation apps, and just generally using google (or 'the google machine' as I call it) does get translations pretty easily. So Marie, if theres any words you don't understand and want to translate to French, just try google.

Not entirely sure why everyone thought I was a man even though Jules is a masculine name, its also my nickname.

Hey Jules,

I may be the only one on this thread who did not think you were a man even from our first PM correspondence. I didn't get that vibe at all from the initial help you offered me when I first started playing GD. I never got that vibe from any of your posts on the forum either. Guess I am pretty intuitive. Although Jules does seem as though it is a man's name in this day and age man/woman names can be interchangeable. Have a niece named Taylor, two friends both named Kim one a female and one a male and I also know a man named Laverne and a woman named Charles (Charlie for short) but her actual given name is Charles. There are probably many more examples of people I personally know but no more that immediately come to mind right now. Just goes to show you I guess.

I have unfortunately discovered an annoying bug in Vladivostok. Twice today I won on the last move, only to get the screen that I had lost and can use extra moves. Both times the win was accomplished by getting the right amount of bricks on the final move. But the game was very anxious to tell me I had lost. I have not noticed this in any other city. Anyone else?

Hey glitter, no you weren't the only one to figure out jules gender, I caught on to that back when I first started commenting here, I also had the impression that she had teaching experience by the way she writes her comments. I've noticed back when this thread started some of you introduced yourselves with your first name. I'm Mike and I am very pleased to have gotten to know you wonderful folks.

I am mystified by how everyone is commenting so much on my gender! I think its really funny guys (guys meaning EVERYONE, not just males) but I did mention this quite some time ago back further in this thread when someone commented that I was the King of something or other, and I did reply to that, so I guess I just figured you all knew and it wasn't something that was hidden.

And Glitter, I too know a number of people who have names that you would normally associate with the opposite gender, like a male cousin called Kerry. Nicknames also confuse the matter too.

And Grampa, you are very right, yes, I have a lot of teaching experience, but not in schools and not the 'traditional' teaching people think of when teaching is mentioned, but arty stuff and painting. Very smart of you to work that out.

And Snowman, that happened to me a couple of times, not in Vladivostok though, can't remember where it was, but it wasn't that long ago. I thought I had been seeing things, but maybe there really is a glitch now you mention it.

Hi all, just wanted to jump on here again before I go nighty-night, I spent this evening reading back through this thread and all the fun conversations that got going, one in particular caught my attention (on June 21,2016 Trav3lbird wrote about a "spoiler" thread listing the resources needed for each monument) and look who finally got that thread going! See Trav, good things do come to those who wait! Night everyone.

Jules,

I remember it was Snow and he called you the king of coins and you replied "not a king but maybe a queen". It is funny how we interpret a persons gender by the forum name they choose. I guess it is pretty obvious I am female as I don't know of any male who would want to have Glitter as a name. LOL

I've also experienced the problem of completing a level but being told I'd failed. It wasn't Vladivostok because I haven't got that far yet. I can't remember which city or level it was, but it has only happened once.

It's always risky making assumptions about gender based on userids. On another site I use KT53 and many had assumed it was for 'Katey' whereas it's actually just my intials. Some only realised when I mentioned my wife in one thread. Even that's not proof any more.
In my last employment one of the women I worked with always called me KT, she was the only person to use that since I left school. It caused no end of confusion if she couldn't answer a problem and told people to 'Ask KT', as they would naturally wander round looking for a woman.

Yes, Glitter, you are right, I don't think a bloke would call himself that. And now you mention the king of coins, yes, that was what it was. I remember now. And up till then, I had not even thought about it and that anyone would assume I was not male. I just didn't think of it. Keith, you are right too, I would have assumed that someone with the name KT would have been a shortening of Katey or Katie.

Good morning folks, ( for me anyways) glitter, I can think of one gentleman who wouldn't have had a problem with that, since he kind of started the glitter rock movement back in the 1970's. I'm of course referring to the late Mr. David Bowie. Keith, that 53 have anything to do with your birth year? I'm '52. Well folks, it's time for breakfast so I'll check back later.
Mike

Lordkalvan, you're absolutely correct, the original glitter man.
