How do you beat the last level?

I've played it a million times and when I get to the very lowest part of his battery I die! AHHH! Help any clues please!

You need to avoid the robots bombs when he's either an arm or the whole body. Then when his head is on screen come in close and you'll be shooting him. Worked great once I'd figured out that's what we were supposed to do. Instructions with this game were terrible. Anyone know what they mean by "find the secret cups" at the end of the game?
