Smokey but Safe in Southern California

Hey Everyone

I thought those of you that know I am from southern California might be worried so I am making this thread. The Yorba Linda fire is big and about 5 miles from our house. The brea fire is about 2 miles from here. At 2:00pm the smoke and winds were so bad that it shut out the sun. It got very dark for a couple of hours. There is ash and smoke still in the air. I feel so bad for all the people that are losing their houses. But we are safe.

OH my giggyman...stay safe and keeps us updated. I was just reading out this fire in the newspaper and my thoughts and prayers go out to those unfortunate people who have lost their homes.

glad you are safe, try to be prepared encase you do have to leave. Those fires sound so very close to you, please be careful. The best of luck to you.

We live in the city so there is 10,000 or more between us and the fire. But we are keeping an eye on the t.v.
It is just very strange.

So glad that you and your family are ok...it's so sad to watch it on tv and for it to be so close to you, kinda like when Katrina hit in NO, we had sooooo many evacuees up here..so sad... and prayers to you!

Are you really comfortable staying there? Too close...

I'm glad you are safe! I hope you have a plan of action in case the fires get closer to you. We wouldn't want anything to happen.
Also, that sounds like a lot of smoke. It must make it hard to breathe.
My thoughts are with you and hope all will be well!

Egads. I was wondering if any fishies were being affected by these wildfires. Your post just answered that question. I know we don't have to remind you to be safe. So here's some supportive hugs instead... *hugs*

GIGGY we can see the smoke clouds down here in lake forest .hope you stay safe, last year was really bad for our wildfires,3 miles from my home and we could not breathe for days.
I fear so for the poor wild animals.all day w e had the tv on at work and my heart was just wrencing. I have such a hard time shaking these things,i hope evevryone will be ok i pray.

I'm thinking of you giggyann. I used to hate this time of the year when we lived there. There was a bad fire near us in Glendora one year, it was tough to watch.

Lisa glendora has fires again today too. several hundred mobile homes destroyed.last year it was arson by our house, the embers were blown down all over our homes. im so afraid ,just hope it doesnt happen this year.

I live in Anaheim Hills and am just waiting to see if we have to evacuate. You can see flames from our backyard window. Fireman came around a couple of hours ago and said we are ok for now. Lots of friends have already had mandatory evacuations. I know two people who already lost their houses. One in Brea and my boss in Yorba Linda. My daughter works in Yorba Linda and lives in Brea. She couldn't get home, so she came here. My hubby was in Corona and has been trying to get home for the last three hours. Three freeways in area are closed. Please keep your thoughts and prayers for all of us!

Thanks looloo. Just talked to hubby and he had to go all the way to Lakeside area. It will probably take him four or five hours to get here from Corona!! So many roads closed. I can't see the flames now, so that is good.

Im kinda shaking in my boots right now, my son and daughter inlaw went up there to spend a week for thier honeymoon, and i cant reach them on thier cell phones.im praying they are all right.

I hope that everyone from the fire region is safe. It must be very scary to have that so close to you. I stopped at my fathers house on my way to work this evening and he had some news channel on that was showing some of the smoldering remains of houses. So sad. He reminded me of when we had a fire in our house when I was about 10. I told him I remembered it quite well. A lot of my stuff was ruined or gone after that fire. Fire really scares me. I will keep all of you in my prayers. (((((HUGGS))))) Stay safe and be ready to get out of there. Keep us posted.
