Useless Walkthrough on this one?

[Post New]by oliversgranny on Jan 28, 11 12:36 PM
First time I have come across a Walkthrough that doesnt as it were
For instance
I need the glass cutter now
Now I know hat I need to gt but the walk through just presumes you have it in your inventory and not a single clue as to how you get the diamond bit
Nothing
is it frustrating many others?
Is it deliberate?

From what I can gather the game has a Strategy Guide - not a walkthrough. It points you in the direction you should be going, rather than telling you every step of every move

Hi Wendy,

I wrote the guide for this game.I can assure you no information has been excluded from the guide.

Please remember when using a walkthrough in a game that is non-linear that the walkthrough may not follow the same path as you did. That is why it is important to go backwards in a guide to see where an item was picked up.

The following is a direct quote from the walkthrough>>>

End of Chapter 3

• Exit the cave and head forward.

• Play the Hidden Object Scene.

• Open the left closet door to look for items .

• Spill the bottle of ink on the table; take the INK (Y).

• The TWEEZERS will be added to inventory.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

• Return to the tent where the fortuneteller was last seen.

• Give the CHEST to the fortuneteller to trigger a puzzle (6).

• Remove the identical pair of cards by turning over 2 cards at a time (7).

• Unmatched cards will switch positions.

• You will receive a CARD at the end of the puzzle.

• Zoom into the right door; unlock it with the CARD .

• Go through the door.

• Click on the dead body (1).

• Examine the left tree; take the POCKET WATCH (2).

• Zoom into the log in the lower right; take the METAL CLAW (3).

• Zoom into the wagon; cut the painting (4) with the METAL CLAW and take the NECKLACE (5).

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

• Return to the Lab.

• Zoom into the flasks on left.

• Place the NECKLACE into the ACID JAR on left (6).

• Use the TWEEZERS to remove the DIAMOND in the acid jar.

• Zoom into the right table.

• Place the DIAMOND on the glazier’s tool on the table.

• Take the GLASSCUTTER (7).

Does this answer your question or is there something else you need help with because I will be glad to help in any way I can.

Thanks,

MargieB

Margie, the strategy guide in my game is not the same as you listed. There is nothing about a cave in Chapter 3 or 4. Chapter 3 tells you to visit the tailor. Chapter 4 tells you to cut the glass with the glasscutter. Neither one tells you where to obtain the diamond, which is the problem I'm also having with the game.

Thanks, Spooky

Hi Spooky,

Thanks for the feedback. That information that I listed was in the guide that I sent in. I did not see the guide once it was embedded into the game. I will download the final version to see what the issue may be.

Is there some sort of scrolling bar or some sort of thing at the bottom that says "next" or "last" by any chance? That may be why the info is not appearing.

Thanks for the heads up. I will post back tonight or sometime tomorrow.

Margie, I've found the strategy guide very helpful, but it tells me to use the clock on the vice, but I can't find the clock?

Thanks Twinkeeper,

It should be place the POCKETWATCH on the vice, not the CLOCK. Do you have the pocketwatch? If not, the instructions in my post above explain how to get it.

Thanks

Thanks Margie! It does say clock, you should make them let you look at their edits before they put them in

Can you give me a hint as to where to go next? I can't open the No Trespass Door and I don't have the diamond to get into the tailors. I've solved every hidden object up to this point. I have the spade, the medallion, the door knob, the flint stone, and the code piece. I've used the red wine, the clock hands. I got into the wolfs cage and finished one puzzle in the Gypsy's tent. I am just going in circles now, trying to find something to do with the things I've got or someplace else to go.

Thanks, Spooky

I cannot agree with some of you. This "Strategy Guide" was perfect. The best ever, as was the game.

This game is as perfect as they come. the game follows through in a logical procession. I barely needed a guide and that is unusual for me even though I have been playing these games for over 2 years.

Kudos. I loved this game. It should serve as a model for all non-linear games.

I my opinion, this game is perfection. Thanks

oooer
I seem to be missing sections in the strategy guide then
none of what you have listed is in mine
read through the whole thing
My apologies
I didnt mean to seem rude
i have read through the whole thing for each chapter
you have to have the glass cutter to carry on so its not a case of wrong order
there is nothing in mine to tell you how to get it
it goes straight to go back to town and use glass cutter
it may have loaded incorrectly
I am going to try again
certainly nothing about giving the chest etc.
read it through 5 times now start to end

The in-game Strategy Guide has 49 pages. You can see the page numbers at the bottom.

You have to do a lot of things to get the Glasscutter. It all starts in the LAB on page 12 of the in-game Strategy Guide. You progress through several areas and HOGs to get the inventory items to be able to assemble the Glasscutter. The whole process goes from page 12 to page 16 in the in-game Strategy Guide.

Check and see if you have pages 12 through 16. Getting the Glasscutter is a long process.

The thing that may be confusing is that the scene with the Glasscutter that is in the Lab is mentioned in the strategy guide on page 12 but the guide does not tell you to click on the broken Glasscutter when it is first shown to you in the game, so you don't actually know that the actions you are starting in the Lab will ultimately lead to getting the Glasscutter. I happened to click on the broken Glasscutter in the table scene, after Gerard allows you access to his Lab. I got this message. "It's a glass cutter, but a piece of it is missing." That's how I knew that I needed to find the missing part of the Glasscutter and come back to it.

Good luck!

To get the glasscutter you have to open the numbered lock in the prefect's office. You'll need to find the paper with the code on it and do something else with it.

When you open the numbered lock in the prefect's office you get the bottle of NH40H, not the glasscutter.

Problem solved
I started again and reloaded
It then allowed me to access beyond the first page of each section in the Guide
Prior to that there was no forward access in the Guide
Managed to finish game with **** hints on any HOGS and only one look at the Guide
made me keep going thats for sure!lol
great game really enjoyed it
just hard enough to keep me intrigued but not too hard to get cross
just my cup of tea.

Wendy..

Sorry, but I can't find the other piece to the glass cutter. I have found the diamond, but the handle to the glass cutter. At this point stuck and can't go any further. SG says to lay diamond on table, but wont stay wihout handle.

Look at the table on the right in the lab. The handle is there. You have to put the diamond in at the top of the handle to create the glass cutter.
