Game tips and tricks

[Post New]by caddy90271 on Jan 2, 09 2:44 PM
When at the menu screen for the game, if you click on help it takes you to a web page. I am pasting the tips and tricks on it here for everyones info. Some of them really helped me.

Tips & Tricks

Drag your injured gunslingers to a Saloon for a little pick me up.

Hunting and fishing is a great way to get food quickly if your supplies are low.

Animals you hunt for food will also drop pelts you can pick-up for gold if you have a Tannery employed.

Dragging a Sheriff or Deputy to a Stable with a horse will upgrade the lawmen for a cost of 30 gold.

A town cannot grow past a population of 15 until you hire a Sheriff.

The greater variety of food grown in your town the higher the town happiness will be.

Damaged town buildings will lower your town’s happiness.

High town happiness will increase all your buildings’ production rates.

Low town happiness will decrease all your buildings’ production rates.

Wanted Poster Bounty and Trading Post quests are great for earning extra experience and gold.

A General Store will produce gold if you uncover any of the hidden general store items.

Make sure there is a well or water tower in close range of all your buildings to help fight fires.

A fully employed Farm or Ranch will require more water than a partially employed one.

Use dynamite to destroy unsightly tree stumps or build new buildings right over the top of them.

Your hero will always heal after he/she is knocked out.

Town citizens that are housed or employed at a building on fire will automatically try to put the fire out.

Holding down the space bar lets you rotate the camera.

Pick up resources and harvest quick jobs early on to build up your town quickly.

Drag a Sheriff or Deputy over to a drunken citizen to reform them.

Only buildings that are employed will boost town happiness or production of another building.

Double clicking on a character will select all the characters of the same type on the screen.

You can click on the portrait image of a character or building to move the camera to their location.

An employed Lumber Mill will increase your Lumber Camp’s harvest radius as well as its production rate.

Some characters give bonuses while working at their favorite buildings.

Thank you, caddy...I did learn several things here, such as an employee @ lumber mill will INCREASE production...in WW II it slowed it down. And the dragging gunslingers to the saloon is ingenious!!!Now I'll have to go try the rotating camera thingey... Thank you!

The space bar didn't rotate anything...it kind of wiggled a bit, but no rotation...oh well, must be my 'puter.

Just a little tip on the Trading Post challenges, although I wouldn't be suprised if someone else has thought of it, but anyway, when you do the challenges, you don't have to turn in your resources to the trading post dude immediately, unless you're really low on time. You can use the extra time to set up things for the next batch of resources so you can get a little ahead of your next task. This was a great discovery for me because the harder the challenges got, the more I was replaying. Hope this helps someone else. Good luck!

In the trading post challenges, how do you know when you have collected enough food, etc? There is no indicator to state that you have enough of anything.
