I think I don’t have to tell much about this game, cuz it’s another installment of the well known FFZ series!

The gameplay is the same but set in Viking theme! Graphics are really attractive as usual, I liked the story, music is good and there’re many new features in the game (new buildings, animals, enemies…) They’ve also changed the map of the game but I prefer the original one more than the new one. Well, I liked every FFZ game but after I’ve bought one or two of them (FFZ 3 & Gone Fishing), I just think that there’re nothing much new in each one and the same as this one, it’s just another FFZ game!

Grades:

Graphics: A
Story: A
Music: A
Features: A
Fun: B
Gameplay: B
Overall: A

My grades can be as high as A* or as low as F!

I am sure I would love it but still waiting for it to d/l 1.5 hours so far. I now have to go out so will have to switch it off. Heres hoping when I get back it will zip through the d/l

For those who already played the previous Farm Frenzies, are there news about gameplay? I played them all but Rome version because I felt it was too much the same thing (I was a bit saturated).

Are there new elements out of the general setting?

Thank you for sharing!

I've only played the trial for about 15 minutes but have decided it's definitely what I'll use this month's credit on. Similar enough to the other FFs, but already with enough differences to keep me interested. As others have noted, the graphics are gorgeous - love the steampunky feel to the loading screen too!

Well, this is a bit of a difference to the regular Farm Frenzy games I've played. This one has an "adventure" mode that has a story with it. I didn't get enough time to see anything but the first scene so don't know about how the story goes.

The one thing that drives me nuts in all the Farm Frenzy games is the loading issue and for this one it's even worse!! The adventure side had 3 different loading screens between each level.

Another noticeable difference is now you can make the animals "bear proof" so the bears won't be a problem as long as that particular building is available. This is under the adventure mode but I'm "assuming" that it's also under the standard side too.

So it's really not a normal FF and worth giving a demo run to see if you like it.

Still, I'm not sure about purchasing it because of those aggravating loading screens.....

I really dislike the interminable loading screens, and in adventure mode level 6 they require you to purchase or somehow obtain a 'horn' to be decorated but the only items for purchase are the wooden planks for making halberds and some kind of grain sheaf. When you purchase the grain sheaf it does not let you pick it up or catch it in midair. Unable to complete adventure level six because the items you need for the decorated horn is completely unavailable. afaik.
Having a very Norwegian last name I was eager to try this, but find it frustrating.

galotter, the horn can be gotten off of the second animal you can purchase. It looks like a bull. There's a building to make the horn into the item that you need to get through the level.

The grain sheaf is what you have to feed it so that's why you can't pick it up or catch it. They will disappear if the bull doesn't eat it in time so be careful not to buy many at the same time.

I love the farm frenzy games but load time between actual playing made me say no thanks on this one.

Oh happy day!

A new Farm Frenzy game AND a new Youda game!

I am downloading FF now, haven't played it yet, but I know I will love it!

But to be fair I will review it after playing.

Game is cute and there are nice changes from the previous versions but I'm going to add my voice to the others here - I won't be buying it because the long load times between one screen and the next puts me right off. This game takes longer to load the menu screen than the average game here takes to load the entire game!

Nice graphics and interesting new setting. But, the long loading times for each level is just too much. Would have liked to see more during the demo. Won't be buying this.

Played the trial on my son's computer, it is great! Not if you are looking for something really new and different, but if you are crazy about the series, it is a great addition with just enough twists and turns. My son built his own computer, and it is fast. The game, the screens everything was fast. Cool graphics. But I don't like to leave games on his computer, so had to delete it.

Alas, I love all the Farm Frenzy games! But until I get a new computer, I can't play any from Going Fishing on! They require more memory than my poor old girl can provide. I'm not going to complain, because developers want to improve their games and use more resources. It is not their fault that I am stuck with an elderly computer! Still, bless all those companies who are keeping games at 512 mb
Still, for those of you having problems with it being slow or sticking, compared to other FF games, it just may be your computer is outdated.

(Not actually a review I know, sorry. I only wish I had known enough to buy a computer that was easily upgraded, and not dependent on one company for parts. New memory is cheap, unless you have an old Dell or other name brand. Just a tip for those buying a new one. To increase my memory would cost $612! Obviously you would buy a new computer first!)

This is a very good new Farm Frenzy game with a nice new sitting. It isn`t very easy and I need to replay many levels a few times to get gold on every level, but its a buy for me

I demo'd this game on the developer's site, and it was a nightmare in terms of watching my screen load and reload. I remember reading a review on the developer's site that stated they wanted to throw rocks at the head of the bicycle riding viking who appears during the loading process, and it made me laughingly agree.

I played this game during the demo time in both modes...the adventure and the more standard game play. The standard doesn't have the story line, and the adventure takes longer to load and includes the story that other FF fans will know and love.

I have always been a FF fan, and used to eagerly purchase each game once they debuted. However, FF Ancient Rome really burned me on this series. The developers have gone away [at least during the demo time I played] in requiring certain items to be developed or purchased in order to upgrade my buildings, but the loading time is a nightmare. And I have a dual core processor and a good enough pc that allows for quick downloads and play time, so this lengthy loading process shouldn't be an issue...yet it is.

For now, this game is a "no buy" for me. However, I do love the FF series, and may change my mind because I'm a total TM geek.

My recommendation would be for people to try the game in demo mode, see if it works on your pc, check and see if you like the game play. If you do, purchase it. But if you don't, then you may want to pass until Roads of Rome III debuts on BFG, like I am!

As always, thanks to all Fishes for posting and being such a great gaming community! Happy Gaming Fishes!

Just finished playing my free hour and I will definitely buy it. However, I am a certifiable FF fanatic.

As for my review all I can do is echo Teamsd's and Doobiebear's comments.

I'm not thrilled with the new map. Like TSD I loved the street layout maps of the previous FF games.

I agree with the DB that FF games have always had a slow loading time and this one is much slower than the previous and there's a load between every screen. That will turn off a lot of FF first timers.

The graphics are great and there's an interesting story to play out in the adventure mode and like the previous FF there are extra games/modes to be unlocked once you finish with the main game. You always get your money's worth with the FF series. Plus, who doesn't love BATTLE BOARS!? I didn't get far enough into the game to find out if we can dress bears like in the previous games, but I like the battle boars.

If you're new to the FF franchise and aren't impressed with this one I suggest you try on of the others and then come back to this one. One of my fav's was FF Ice Age.

I almost didn't bother to download the demo of this, because Farm Frenzy so incredibly annoyed me with their constant rehashing of the same thing. Then I read here that there are new elements.

Well, just finished the demo and am delighted! The basic game play remains the same - get animals, get what their produce and sell or process. Cage predators, build and upgrade buildings.

There is a very nice new twist to this with the whole Viking motive. The graphics are absolutely gorgeous, with lots of nice details. What's even more important (at least to me) - there are new elements of gameplay requiring a different strategy than in previous versions of Farm Frenzy. It gets more complicated and I admit that got extremely bad results on later levels in the demo because I used the wrong strategy or completely forgot about some of the goals. I find this positive because it shows that the developers really did come up with enough new things.

What I didn't like:
1. Way too many predators. Clicking on them like crazy was always my least favourite part of Farm Frenzy. Here, in some level, you hardly do anything else but to click on them. That spoiled the game fun for me.
2. Tutorial can't be skipped. Almost every TM game gives one the option to skip the tutorial. Here, especially in the first level, so many messages keep popping up that it was annoying to me. With a series like Farm Frenzy, that has so many, many versions and where basic gameplay doesn't change, it should be possible to skip the tutorial messages.
3. As mentioned here several times - the long loading. There's even a loading screen when I just clicked on "Menu". Why all the loading? The game is not more complex than many other games that don't have such long loading times before virtually every screen (not just new levels).

Still, I'm pretty sure that I'll buy this game. It's a nicely done new version and demo time just flew by.

I was a bit skeptical when I saw another Farm Frenzy had been released because they are all soooooo similar. However, I read some of the reviews here and decided to give it a try. It's a definite buy for me after only 15 minutes. I haven't had too much of a problem with loading times but I've found that to be hit and miss with FF games. (Sometimes they lag really, really badly and sometimes they don't.)

Anyway, the gameplay is different enough to make it worth buying for me. The premise is the same but it's still a lot of fun and I think the graphics are fantastic.

Is it just me or was anyone else getting sick of Scarlet?? So far there has been no sign of her in this game. Whew.... I just hope she doesn't pop up as the story mode progresses. I might want my money back!!

The game is good enough that it's worth at least trying the demo. It's certainly different enough to make it worth buying if you are a Farm Frenzy fan who was getting tired of the same old gameplay Happy farming, everyone!!

*DOH!* It was the Cows that make horns. Must have been before my morning coffee!

Sorry :-}

I love, love, love the FF series, have bought each and every one and didn't quit playing until I achieved gold on every level. That said, unless I get desperate for a game, I won't be buying this one. I used up 17 minutes of the demo....but spent less than 5 minutes actually playing the game. The rest of the time was spent watching the guy on the bike slowly ride across my screen. Guess that's what I get for buying a wide screen monitor - it gives him further to travel Like the above fishy, I don't recall ever playing a game where even the menu had to load.
