how do you turn things?

Like in crazy machines? I have a long block and want to turn it horizontal. I can get the big circle, but can't turn it? This is in #9. The way they did it was to turn the 2 blocks. I got it to work without doing that because I can't turn them. Maybe I'm doing it wrong?

Hi, click on the item and that big cloudy circle comes up. Then you click on what (to me) looked sorta like a sailboat, although I'm sure it's their icon for reversing the angle.

When you click on an item a circle appears around it (sorta looks like a ring of bones ?).
Click on the circle and drag it around - this will turn the item as well.
