I agree with you Imathebeach. I played B-A-L and recently Aquapolis. And I decided to try Be Rich because I am hooked on building games. Not having to worry about time restraints that fail you is very nice. I really like the whole city screen as it's updated, the decorations for the outside and the graphics are beautiful. Honestly, I would suggest playing them all since they have different things to offer.
There is more planning and strategy in B-A-L , but Be Rich has more freedom in my opinion. It's also more relaxed.

For what it's worth, my DH recently discovered these types of games.
He demoed BAL3, Aquapolis, Plan It Green and Be Rich.
Out of all of those he chose Be Rich.
Also, when I was asking wiser fish than me about which game he should choose I was told that BAL4 is on the way in the next month or so. Don't know if that would factor into your decision.
