Help please. I am stuck.

Possible spoiler. After you put the tin cup on the anvil, the guide says to go back to the main hall in 1830. You are then suppose to enter the basement. I am guessing through the closet. But that opening with the curtain on it won't let me through. What am I doing wrong? When I use the time machine, it doesn't show me any hot spots. Thank you.

You have to pound the tin cup into a disc on the anvil with the hammer. Collect the tin disc (this should give you 3 tin discs and 3 bronze discs). Use the discs in the 1830 basement to turn on some lights. Yes, you enter the basement through the closet.
