Why do you get pieces of map - what can you use them for?

It's been forever since I played this game.

Maybe you collect them and put them together at the end to get "treasure" or something?

Honestly I can't remember. I've played so many games since then and obviously I didn't like this one enough because I didn't buy it. And I've got quite a few popper games too.

Anyone else know the answer to this?

I purchase this 2 wks ago and still don't understand the significance of the scull points at the top left...the blackbird seems to be games left...
I'm new at this and its frustrating not having instructions...
Also, do you ever do anything w/ the map pieces at the end...if I live long enough to get there?

I'm with you guys. It's fun popping the cannonballs, but I wish I knew what the map and the treasure cave are about. I haven't got a clue. Also, puzzle mode doesn;t seem to do anything.
