Shovel and pirate ship board

where do you get the shovel? And having problems getting the last board for the pirate ship. Help

You won't get the shovel for awhile yet, if you're just doing the Pirate's Pier. You'll get it in the next chapter (Woodland Cottage).

The boards for the ship should be at the Manor Back Yard where you obtained the boards for the bridge in the Secret Cavern.

I have 7 out of the 8 boards. The hint keeps showing me where the board should be, but no board there or it won't let me pickup anything. Don't know if this is a glitch or not

Maybe the hotspot for that plank is really small so you need to be very specific in clicking. If you're playing with the default (lowest) brightness level, you may want to slide it to max brightness to find the plank.
