Untangling String puzzles - is there some logic to it?

[Post New]by KingaroyJoy on Jan 2, 12 7:12 PM
This is one of the most complex of those string puzzles I've encountered. I love them, but I mostly solve them by just moving balls about, until a few strings go green, and eventually, sometimes suddenly, its solved. Its a haphard method/solution. Often I don't know how I got to the end.

How do others approach these puzzles?

On one of these I noticed there was a ball with 7 strings, and several with six.!!!

Can anyone please suggest any tips that might help some of us newbies, or anyone else who is 'logic challenged'?

Thanx

I follow the same approach as you - I move things around until they change colour, and hopefully eventually they'll untangle.

Sometimes I TRY to find the balls that have the most strings attached, and move them to the middle. Then I'll work from one of those and move another ball, and find another that's attached to the two of them, and move that next. I think that only helps a little though.

Believe it or not, the closer you move the points together the quicker the lines turn green -- hope this helps.
