Cant get the copper coin inserted in skeleton's eye in the dungeon.

I see from the strategy guide that you are supposed to put the copper coin into the empty eye socket of the skeleton in the dungeon. I can't get the coin to "stick" onto the eye socket. Anyone else encountering this problem?
