Elevator stuck?

I cant get the elevator to go back up to the second floor! What have I missed? What have I skipped or done wrong? Any help would be appreciated!

Have you actually ENTERED the elevator? I know it may sound like a silly question but personally, when I saw the 1 button, I THOUGHT that I was in the elevator and then I clicked again and THEN I saw the button that had BOTH the up and down symbols -- THAT'S when I realized that I was NOW actually IN the elevator and I just pushed on the button.
