how do i get the spider to take the fly.tried everything and he won't take it.

This was answered in the post below yours, so I will paste the information from a couple of people here for you.
SPOILER ALERT
Have you collected a plant that looks like a fan?
If so, place it on the RHS of the road in the cavern.

There's an empty plant pot in the cavern that it can be placed in.

You should just have to take the fly and place it on the spider.

When people have had similar issues (something just won't "stick"), some have found exiting to the menu then going back to the game has solved the problem. Some have said they've had to exit the game then go back in, and others have resorted to reinstalling.

I hope one of these methods (preferably the easiest) works for you
