THANKS PB & BARB.....
I always enjoy your reviews.....I am so HAPPY that you both tell all.. i was wondering what is 5-star ,,,maybe could be one someday
I am going to DL now. I also, loved POE, and used to watch all the movies on TV.
"Price" ( forgot first name) used to play in them. He had the looks and the voice. My favorite was the "RAVEN".
HAPPY GAMING

This is an enjoyable game but there is not much challenge in the puzzles. It is on about the same scale for difficulty as the Samantha Swift games, which were very easy. The hidden objects are more challenging so that is a plus.
The graphics are good but I have to turn up my gamma for all of the scenes. It seems all of the scenes are dark. I am enjoying the music. I normally turn the music off but for this game I left it on and it is quite fitting to the scenes and is not annoying.
I disagree with the Big Fish reviewer that this game is similar to MCF Return to Ravenhearst. This game has a spooky theme but the game play is nothing like MCF RTR. This game does not have challenging puzzles. It was developed by the same people that did the Samantha Swift games and you can tell that when you play it.
I purchased it after the 1 hour demo and I am enjoying the easy play and the atmosphere of mystery.

Graphics: Excellent. Sharp and clear. Clever use of skeleton hand for cursor.
General Storyline/Sounds: Story a bit dark and gloomy, but It is Poe after all. Sounds are good. Game is untimed.
Hidden Objects: The usual hodgepodge, although some items are cleverly hidden. Object lists don't seem to change much on replay..maybe half the items on the list will change. Only half the list is shown at one time via a "journal page" at bottom of screen. When that list is done a new page will open. Clever use of clues (i.e....."monkey food" for banana, etc.). The hidden objects do seem to get harder to find the farther into the game you get.
Hint System: Two tier hint system: clicking on item will show a silhoutte or you can use the actual hint "raven" to pinpoint exact location. Extra ravens in the scene for more hints (sometimes the ravens are part of the HOG list, sometimes not). The word "raven" in the scene also gives extra hint. Hints carry over. Random clicking causes the hint raven to fly away for a few seconds.
Inventory puzzles: A bit on the easy side. At times you only have one or two items in inventory, so it's pretty obvious what you have to do. You cannot do the inventory puzzles until you have completed the whole HOG list, even if you pick up something for your inventory in the meantime. Moving your cursor over the screen will show you an eyeball where there is a puzzle to be done. If you are really lost with the puzzles, the hint raven will tell you exactly what to do.
Length: Good, I assume, based on my demo time. I did the "intro" scenes twice under two different names (to see if the HOG lists would change) and it took me an hour to do the intro twice. But I also used hints, to check out the hint system and, of course, the second time around I knew where a lot of the items were and how to do the puzzles. After the intro another "story" opens up with several levels (with two more "stories"showing but not open). Based on all of this, I would say average length of 3-4 hours.
Replayability: Limited. The HOG lists don't seem to change a whole lot, and the inventory puzzles stay the same.
Overall Impression While those new to the genre might find this game challenging, veteran HOG gamers will find it a bit easy when compared to others (such as RTR) but it is still an excellent game that is sure to please. I will add this to my "must buy" list.

Just completed the demo and I must say it flew by as the game is very engaging. My only complaint is that the pictures are so DARK, (literally not figuratively...I expect genre darkness in a murder mystery) I found myself squinting to try to see and developed a slight headache before the hour was up. The graphics are beautiful and the story line is interesting but still on the fence because of the visual darkness.

I'm a little disappointed with this game. I finished it in 2 1/2 hrs and didn't have to use any hints as the objects were so obvious and the puzzles not puzzling!! I don't often post on forums but thought I would in this case so that people would know before they bought it. The graphics are good and so is the story line but to be honest a young child could have got through it with very little difficulty.

I've spent a lot more than that on movies at the theater lasting half as long, and not nearly as fun.
