You're all so very welcome!
For those of you that are having trouble with this, the only thing I can suggest is making sure that you are choosing "main menu" directly after you fail a level, don't click "replay", and don't just exit the game.... this should bring up a popup that asks if you want to save... say YES, and then... this is the important part:
OVERWRITE your LAST (most recent) saved game, it will be the one listed at the bottom... when you click it, it will ask if you want to overwrite it, say yes.
Good luck, all ... and happy gaming!

You're welcome, glad to hear it's working for you... I wonder, had you saved a game level before trying this trick? I'm trying to figure out why it's not working for some of the others.
First the Fail - Back to Main Menu - Save- Continue - trick did not work with me. Than I uninstalled the game and installed it again. All my previous played levels were still there. AND: the trick works now, hooray.! Now I also can make more money on failed levels. Very, very nice.

Had you saved a game (using one of the slots) before trying this? If not, that may be the problem... you may have to have a game's progress saved before this will work, it's the only thing I can think of, other than some kind of technical bug.
Yes, I had a previous saved game, so I'm not sure what the problem is, either.
Fransje66 uninstalled, then reinstalled the game, and then the trick started working... and they didn't lose their levels, so maybe that's worth a shot, LittleWren?

All right. Similar games are (where you can replay levels to earn money that way)
Beach Party Craze
Alex Gordon
First Class Furry
and the good old Roller Rush - I still like that game, like DD-games; Roller Rush is much better than Parking Dash - Roller rush is a dash-like game. The waitress moves around on roller skates. She runs an open air restaurant. People come in by car. Try it.!
Thanks for a reply anyway!
