Liorahleh wrote:Has the game been fixed so Mac users can complete it yet? A couple of months ago I contacted tech support when I could not complete the game and they gave me a free game and told me to keep checking the boards. Any updates?
Since the official word from tech support to me on Feb. 19 was:
"Studios is treating it as an official known issue, so it is definitely being worked on, but there isn't really any time frame on when they may get an updated build of the game out there. The official word is to recommend checking the forums, and that is probably the best advice. If a new build is put out for a game, that is the first place the news is released."
It looks like no updates have been released as yet. Hopefully soon.

Not knowing about so many previous problems, I eagerly bought and played Ancient Magic until nearly finished, when it quit and wouldn't restart. Although I did receive a coupon as most people did, this was the reason given to me for the problem: "It seems a few of our users have had this issue. We rigorously test our games for our release but it looks like the Mac version of Azada: Ancient Magic escaped with a few kinks."
After reading what appear to be more technical responses that others have already received, this seems to be rather insulting, if others were as into this game as I was. Besides, I was crushed to know there was no remedy. I can only hope that 1) Big Fish actually does fix what's wrong (so we all can fully enjoy what I think is the best game series since Myst), and 2) that they're more rigorous in the future.
In the meantime, if a Mac user reads this board before purchasing Ancient Magic, be aware that you may be unable to finish the game.

I agree 100%. The free coupon was all well and good but come on. How are people suppose to continue buying from your company? Seem like the Mac games are poorly developed. The fact that the developers are not even addressing these issues with any sort of updates. NOT EVEN a simple, "we are aware of the issues and will have a patch in a week." If there isn't any attention paid to the Mac side of your game business you will lose me as a customer. Although you may not care being I am only one customers, if others follow my lead then your profit margins will decrease significantly. Perhaps the Mac games side of the business isn't that important but I really hope that isn't the case.

I have a suggestion until a fix is released for the Invisible
Book crash.
Before you try the book, go to your home user, go to library, go to preferences, go to Big Fish Games, go to
Ancient Magic, then make a copy of the gam file. When a release is posted trash everything but the copy.
The start and quit the game. Copy the saved gam file back to the Ancient Magic folder. Hopefully we/you should
be able to restart the game with the Invisible Book. Logically it should work unless one of the other preference files in the Ancient Magic folder is require. I understand the gam file keeps track of your place in the game.

I had the same problem on my Mac with Ancient Magic crashing and Azada not saving your progress. I wrote to customer service and they informed me to go to my library and click under preferences and delete the game and any license for that game and then go to purchase history in Big Fish and reinstall the game. I did just that and both games are working fine so far Ancient Magic has not crashed and Azada is saving my progress. Of course you have to start all over again but the problem is fixed.

That is the fix for Azada not saving your progress, but not the fix for Azada Ancient Magic quitting at the Invisible Man Book. Please let us know if you did get past that point!

I have played the entire game again and saved my preferences before doing the Invisible Man. The Invisible Man still crashes the game and corrupts the "gam" file. When there is a fix I can restore the preferences before the crash and finish the game.
