Well, I have a few that aren't abbreviations but I'd like to post them anyway.

Fish-con = the little pictures of fishies etc
Invisi-Ink = making your post white so it can't be seen unless highlighted
Burrito Bombing = what happens when a manatee eats kelp burritos

I didn't see anyone else use these before me, so I'm claiming credit for them! ROFLMBO!

suzangh, Thank you for:

''invisi-ink = making your post white so it can't be seen unless highlighted."

I never knew how that invisible spoilers writing was done. Sorry, but have to ask how to make writing white?

Lauralei,

Hope you don't mind if I answer your question.

When you are in the text area of the message that you are typing, highlight the text you want to make invisible. Then click on the big T with the block of colors next to it, and click on the very first block (white). This will give you an entry with brackets at the front and end of the typing. If you then click on preview, you will see that your writing has become.....invisible!!!!!

The reader has to roll their mouse over your writing to "highlight" it, at which point it becomes ..... visible!!!! I did an example below my name - run your cursor over it to highlight, and tell me what you see!

Thanks, Fairhavenfish, for that explanation, very clear. You just taught me something I'd always vaguely wondered about. Haven't had this much fun since my Seargent Preston decoder ring.

For anyone lurking, you are seeing the benefits of BFG membership. We have fun, meet interesting people and learn cool things. Also, some of us think BFG wards off Alzheimer's, a win/win proposition! What was I saying? Oh, yeah, read my answer to your question. below my name. Thanks again.

Thanks for the tips. Most of them are useful, but one can hardly bear at least a tithe of all the expressions in mind. In my opinion it is too banal to invent some new abbreviation language as it weakens the language. More over it takes much more time to spend on abbrevaition expension.

Eather,

Welcome to the Pond! Hope you'll enjoy yourself here - I think you'll find that a lot of our threads are pretty much just to have fun - please use the abbreviations you want, and ignore those you don't. No requirement to use them, I assure you!

You type the name of whichever fish you want to show a picture of between parentheses. Like this without the spaces ( herring ) or ( angelfish ) .
