Hi Fishies!

What do you think of Brainville? We’d love to hear all about it, together with many of the other fishies in our pond! You can now share your review on our website, just pop over to the Brainville page here.

Unsure how to submit a review? Please check our help article Big Fish Game Reviews for more information.

After sharing your review on our website, please feel free to repost your review in this thread!

Remember, a lot of fishies that will be reading your review will have never played the game before. If you are posting spoilers, be sure to include the words SPOILER ALERT at the top of your post .

To help other players get the most out of your review, you could add a note stating if you played the trial or full version and how far you have gotten in the game.

If you’re experiencing technical issues with this game, be sure to swim over to the support thread dedicated to the game here.

**If you are seeking game help, the best thing to do is to start a new thread in the Game Forum by clicking on 'Create New Discussion'!

Hi fishies,

Just to add to the OP: This thread has been reserved for reviews only. If you have any comments or questions about someone else’s review (even if you feel that their review contains incorrect details about this game) please contact that user directly via PM instead of replying to or quoting their post.

While the reviews in this thread are first and foremost helpful to other players, they also tell us and all who were involved in making this game what you liked/disliked most, what you’d like to see more/less of in future games, etc. (As you could imagine, this feedback is very helpful! )

So to make sure that everyone who visits this thread can easily find the reviews that they’re looking for, the Moderation Team will be proactively removing any off-topic posts (i.e. non-reviews) that pop up in this thread.

For any comments and non-review posts, please feel free to create a "Comments" thread in this Game Forum if there isn't one already. You can always create a new thread for any game questions or tips.

Thank you!

Hi fishies...

Here is a little review for today's soft release:

There is voice-over, but only for the first few words.

There is only a custom cursor.

There is no widescreen.

The graphics are nicely done.

--- --- ---

There are different sections where you can train your brain. For example, there is one test where you are shown what a group of people want to eat - a bubble with their fav. dish show up - and you have to memorize those, and then choose from the dishes that will be placed on the table, and hand over to each person the right dish.

Another test has you add up sums. You are in a supermarket, and you are given the amount of money you can spend. You have to choose 1 item (each has a price tag) from each row of shelves to make up the full amount you can spend.

Those are 2 examples. There were 2 other tests I came across. Other tests will open later on - at that moment they were still under construction.

After you have played through the first 4 levels, you can then go to the power station and do the same tests again, but this time you are told how much brain power you have. I had as much as a jet plane, apparently. LOL

--- --- ---

This is a nice game for anyone who likes these type of tests. There is no timer counting down, only one that counts up. The longer you take at a test, the less you score.

--- --- ---

I forgot to mention that when you install the game, a little window pops up that wants to install a programme called "Redistribution C++" or similar. I clicked on "cancel" because I didn't want it installed.
The game worked fine for me (laptop, Win7, 64-bit).

I cannot believe it that after several days there is only one reply. I purchased this game Friday evening with my April PC. I like this game because there are several tests to do and you can practice. It is a total different take on other Brain games for memory, language, logic etc. With language I have a bit of difficulty because it is American based and i don't know all the terms. I like the cartoon characters. The audio section is great with the lovely music and the various musicians. The only complaint is that the conductor is on too long. I plan to play this game on most days, to do the daily test and to practice. I do this also with Brainiversity. I really don't know why Brainville and Brainiversity are not popular.
I rate this game 3-1/2

Complaint: The food matching would be significantly easier if I recognized what some of it IS! I can't imagine anybody is ordering raw, unfried onion rings by themselves, e.g., but that's what one of the plates looks like.

Compliments: The graphics are indeed cheerful and bright. And the tests do indeed show that I'm a whiz at what I'm really good at, and not nearly so where I'm poor, so they seem to be valid. I'm more dubious whether retaking the activities daily would actually teach me anything, but it might well be fun.

And having just barely unlocked and tried out a 5th test before my demo time ran out, I'm pleased to see that it is fairly different from the first 4.

The factoids about brains and their function available in the mayor's office aren't screamingly false--in particular, the old canard about using only 10% never came up--but I don't know how useful they are, either.

Bottom line: Fun, but probably claiming more than it delivers.

I agree with the comments made by Jeanmarie regarding the Americanisation, though they have tried to cover both sides of the pond. In one of the test the season's came up and they did use Autumn instead of Fall!!
It's fun way to try and improve the old grey matter. Does it work? Don't know yet as I have only been doing it for three days. Maybe report back after a month.
