If you are having problems getting the game to work correctly, we highly recommend going to our Help pages. Using our Help pages is always the quickest way to get technical problems resolved. Here are a few suggested articles that have helped many people correct these types of problems in the past:

Game Crashing, Freezing, or Blank Screen
Game Compatibility

While we can offer a known solution for technical issues in the Forums, or other tech savvy pond residents can swim by with good tips and suggestions, we cannot provide the same excellent level of support provided by our Customer Support team.

The Forums are not very well suited for the kinds of information gathering and troubleshooting that get these types of issues corrected quickly.

If there is a problem with the game, our Support Team can also gather necessary information on what types of computers are being affected by the problem and deliver this information to the developer for a fix.

If you are not able to get a game working properly using our Help pages, please get in touch with our Customer Support team, you can find a link to contact our Support team on the front page of our Help pages.

*Please reserve this thread for tech issues only. If you are seeking game play assistance (i.e. hints and tips), the best thing to do is to start a new thread in the game's Forum by clicking on 'Create New Discussion.'

Ah well, I guess somebody has to be the first. I get as far as opening the robot's chest plate and the game freezes. When I control-alt-delete, it comes up with an access violation. Even before this, the cursor was a bit sluggish. Have uninstalled and reinstalled, but it freezes at the same place. Off to do a Dr Felix

Did anyone else get a dialogue box from Creative Labs to open an OpenAL.32dll installer and other OpenAL files? When I clicked cancel (suspicious ) another box popped up and told me installation was incomplete. However, installation completed and activated the trial but when I clicked play, I got an Error Access Violation (I have a 1 year old Win7 laptop)

Hi there limey_scale

The installation will complete, even if you don't install the OpenAL dll file. And because you clicked "cancel" for this file, that might have caused the Error Access Violation.

I did install it, and had no problems with the game.

Hi Valdy
Thank you and I will re-try and see what happens
BTW, nice to talk to you, I really like your precise reviews and I always check your reviews before purchasing many a game, keep it up

I closed the OpenAL popup and although it said installation complete when I started the game another box popped up to tell me I would have no audio unless I update or install OpenAl.
I continued anyway and they were right, I have no sound.

Hi Fishies! Regarding the Open AL....I've had the same thing download on me with other BFG. It's legit. I googled it. Never had a problem.

Game played well until I got to the house on the island (where the safe is). The screen seemed to flicker. At first I thought maybe it was a special effect like lightening or something....but it seemed to continue in other areas. Didn't stop me from playing, but could be a possible concern if you have epilpsy or some similar condition.

Tatsu, I have no help to offer you but doing a Dr. Felix may help, I hope so.

limey_scale, just one final thing, try closing everything and restarting your PC, this may help. Just a thought Hope you get it working as it seems to be a good game.

For those who experience the no sound after install go to options and reset the levels from zero to whatever you are comfortable with up to 100%

My only technical issue is that I picked the option for "system cursor" but I still got the game custom cursor. I don't think it bothered my gameplay much though.

The reason why I (unsuccessfully) changed the cursor option was I had a bit of a gameplay problem with the net and the snake but, after a bit of bother, it worked.

In the HOS I found the shard but does not come off list and you can't back out. Had to go to menu and exit.

HI, I had the same problem with Secrets of the Dark demo. So I clicked on the picture of the game rather than play icon and the game started just fine. When I finished, I had 17 minutes left. I restarted and it played right from the point I finished.

This may, or may not solve the problem. Another solution is to click on the .exe file in game folder.

After I installed the game, it said it would play with no sound. I closed the game and restarted it and got the same message.

Yes, Limey Scale, I got the same little invite to download something "free" from the developer. Like you, I am suspicious and just hit the "x" and downloaded the game. I played the whole demo with no glitches. But the cursor does seem sluggish. Whatever they wanted us to download I didn't.
