Mahjong World won't run on ASUS 904HA Eee netbook

When I select the game, I see disk activity for several seconds, then the screen blips for an instant. No error messages or system/security errors. If I try again, I get the message that a game is already running, but there is nothing on the task bar, etc....I've tried this at all the 904HA's resolution settings(1024x600, 1024x768, 800x600).
