Have you read the book in the room to the left? turned all the pages? Don't know if this will help, but worth a try.
??? How does reading the book change things? Does it reveal the final heart somewhere? I've found 9/10 and just read the book, going back to look for more... but wondering if I was supposed to leave the book on a certain page or something? xoxo julia

This was my experience looking, hopelessly, for the 10th heart.
I have been searching for the 10th heart for several hours. Went through the manor 3 or 4 times......found some nooks and crannies I had forgotten about, but, alas, no heart to be found.
Then I remember that when I first found the Heart Door, I tried to place a heart in the door. The game asked me "What do you think you are doing?" I backed out thinking my heart would go back into inventory (I was sure I had 10 hearts, but upon recounting I only had nine). So off I went looking for the 10 heart.
After reading this thread and learning the Locket must be placed first, I went back to the heart door thinking if I went ahead and placed the Locket then maybe I could go back and find my 10th heart. Upon placing the locket, the door opened and "Voila!" there was my missing heart already in place.
So, those of you looking for the 10th heart, think back. Have you already tried to place a heart and it didn't work? If so, you 10th heart is probably already in the door. Check it out. Place the locket in the center and perhaps your missing heart(s) are already there.
Perhaps this info will help some desperate fisher.
Loved the game BTW. When's the next one!!

Here are the locations of the hearts as best I can remember.
Spoiler:
Emma Statue, Emma hand Locket, Sandbox, Parlour entrance, upstairs bathtub,General store cupboard, toys for brats doll shelf, boat near cottage, boat in underground, cottage barn, and outside gate to manor. This is from memory, hope it helps.

the door needs 10 hearts + 1 heart locket, that is found in the hands of the stone statue of emma which is underground with the candles locket goes in center and should be placed 1st
if you have not found the 10th regular type heart you might need to check outside the gate [1st screen] in the bush where you started [yes you REALLY need to go all the way back]---all others just need to be carefully looked for in EACH PAST SCREEN---even ones you have finished with --return to screens and the areas with the sparkles will light up again if there is anything there to find

They key to the elevator is in Victor's cottage, which you'll be able to go to after you go through the third door, which is the typewriter door. You have to complete the other two doors first.

I answered on your other post, where you explained that you had already gone to the cottage.

Fantastic game, took me over 9 hours to complete it so will have to replay it to lower my timings. All the help given on this forum has been invaluable to me so thanks everyone xx

Well for lack of a better spot, I will say it here since I just finished this: WOW!!! What a game! It took me over two days, several hours each, with a little help from the forums and walkthroughs. I loved the artwork, the music, the puzzles. It was very well done, even the credits at the end, seeing the actors who participated in this. The only thing I did not like was the gruesome story, which never actually told us how Rose and the twins died, but that was creepy enough without knowing. Real life has enough morbidity that I prefer to escape from in my games. This was a little bit much for me. That being said, it was a very entertaining two days, and I truly enjoyed checking out the minute details in the awesome artwork. I can see why this won an award.
