LOVE IN THE ASHES

[Post New]by argistla on Feb 11, 09 4:27 PM
a beautiful photo was shown on news this am ,,it was a fireman ,giving an injured koala water from his bottle,,you are probably wondering what is unique about that,,the fact is koalas in the wild are very timid,,and they also have very sharp claws,,but this one had his injured paw on the firies hand ,letting cold water trickle onto it,,,the f.m said he had it videod for his daughters as they are very wildlife conscious..and it got to the papers,,the koala had 3 bottles of water [a lot trickled out of his mouth ,onto his paw] it has been named sam,,and is now recovering in an animal sanctuary...the story has been picked up by overseas networks ,so you may see it on your news,,,brings a tear to your eyes ,the trusting look the koala is giving the firman,,

The video is on news dot com dot au ( I had to spell that out as I wasn't s'posed to give you a link Sorry BF ) The other thing to keep in mind as you watch the poor little bugger drinking from the fireman's bottle is...she is a wild animal, probably never had contact with humans before and even stranger still...Koala's DON"T drink water under normal circumstances....they get all of their moisture from the gum leaves...She must have been totally at her wits end.

There are so many animal stories out there that will never be heard

That this one has made it to our international news is fantastic .. and helps to highlight the forgotten victims of the fires

To all the animal aid workers ... THANK YOU

And to David Tree the firey who stopped to help THANK YOU You are a Hero to little Sam *and to me .. others may have passed by, you stopped and showed your compassion*

I saw this too! It's funny how one snippet can put a major disaster in focus, make it more personal, break it down so we can get our minds around it.

I cried so much at this very tender moment. Thank you to our brave Australian fishie friends, not only for bringing the video my attention so I could watch it over and over. , but also for providing the background regarding these wonderful creatures - just made it even more poignant!

I am bumping for those who have not seen the on-line video of this simply wonderful thing to come out of the happenings in Australia.

If you have trouble locating it when you've found the site, just put 'koala' in the site's search box and it will be in the list of video clips.

For all animal lovers, it is a happy story but be prepared to have your heart wrenched!

Argistla

I have seen this photo and it brought tears to my eyes. The koala has his paw on the water bottle as if he's holding it and he looks as if he has complete trust in the fireman and knows he is helping him. It brought tears to my eyes, for sure. It was so sweet.

If anyone can't find this link, although it is pretty popular on line, feel free to PM me and I'll send it to you. I think Argi may be sleeping right now!
