Table in living room

What do I do with the light from the attic on the table in the living room ?

I checked The Secret Legacy: A Kate Brooks Adventure Walkthrough, and it's showing that you'll place a mirror on the small table in the Living Room. This is the mirror that would have been added to your Inventory after you found all 8 pieces of it up in the bedroom. You can click here to see a screenshot showing that.

I was able to get the mirror on the table without checking here, but I have tried sporadically for 2 days to get the bent pipe to open the spot on the library wall where the light shines on it. It will not open for me. It's so frustrating to have to hit a precise spot in order to open it--and I had the same problem using the screwdriver in the attic. I don't know what I did then, and if I had to do it again I'd be lost! If you can give me a little more exact help I would appreciate it!
