Post any Botanica: Into the Unknown technical issues here only

If you are having problems getting the game to work correctly, we highly recommend going to our Help pages. Using our Help pages is always the quickest way to get technical problems resolved. Here are a few suggested articles that have helped many people correct these types of problems in the past:

Game Crashing, Freezing, or Blank Screen
Game Compatibility

While we can offer a known solution for technical issues in the Forums, or other tech savvy pond residents can swim by with good tips and suggestions, we cannot provide the same excellent level of support provided by our Customer Support team.

The Forums are not very well suited for the kinds of information gathering and troubleshooting that get these types of issues corrected quickly.

If there is a problem with the game, our Support Team can also gather necessary information on what types of computers are being affected by the problem and deliver this information to the developer for a fix.

If you are not able to get a game working properly using our Help pages, please get in touch with our Customer Support team, you can find a link to contact our Support team on the front page of our Help pages.

When posting in this thread and also when contacting our Support Team, it would be helpful if you could state what system you are playing the game on (i.e. PC, MAC or Mobile), so we can provide you with the appropriate support as quickly as possible.

*Finally, please reserve this thread for tech issues only. If you are seeking game play assistance (i.e. hints and tips), the best thing to do is to start a new thread in the game's Forum by clicking on 'Create New Discussion.'

Hi I'm running a mac osx.
It's an older model but I'm way into the game before I crash.
Everything is great until I get to the mine elevator. Then it crashes.
Nobody else seems to have an issue.....What do you think is up?
I have no interest in re starting after this much time.

Hi acyy415,

I'm sorry to read that.

It's a good idea to make sure that you have all the latest updates running, especially for Adobe Flash and Shockwave. You can find steps for how to do that on a Mac here.

If this doesn’t help, our Technical Support Team will be more than happy to have a further look at this with you so you can enjoy your game again!

To get help faster it would be a great help if you could include a Dr. Felix report. You can contact them 24/7 by clicking on the green envelope at the top-right of this page. On the next page you can find the Contact Us link on the bottom-left. Feel free to let them know if you don't want to re-start the game.

I hope this helps!

I'm just trying out the demo and like the game so far. But I am wondering why the picture only fills the center (horizontally wide but with black bars on top and bottom). Is that normal? The sample images look like standard 4:3. My screen resolution is set to 1920x1080. Most games appear to adjust the resolution and fill the screen, but this one doesn't. I'll buy it in any case, but if someone knows how I can make it fill the screen, that would be SO much better! Thanks.

Hey there KeysPirate,

Happy to hear that you like the game so far! Those black bars on the top and bottom are not normal for the game. I'd definitely try adjusting the resolution as that can sometimes help to get the game displaying correctly. I've included a link to the help article with those instructions here: Screen Resolution

I would also contact Tech Support. They'll definitely have some more suggestions on steps to try and will work with you to get that figured out!

Hope this helps!

Hi bfglzara,

Thanks for the info. I tried a couple of different settings, and found that 1280x1024 works for the game. Of course, everything else is blown all out of proportion so I guess I'll just change the resolution before I play the game and change it back after I quit. No big deal, but I am surprised that the game doesn't do that automatically. Maybe it would in the real game??? I was just trying the demo.

I'm definitely going to buy it -- getting tired of all the gloomy, rainy, snowy, decrepit mansion scenes, so this will be a bright spot!

Thanks again for the quick response. I BigFish!

Marsha

That's great news KeysPirate, happy to hear that did the trick! Generally the demo is a good indication of how the full-version game will play so it's likely that the resolution will have to be manually set as well.

If you'd like to check for other options though be sure to contact Tech Support!

Happy gaming!

Hi,
I'm using the PC vanilla version (not CE) and I've returned to the crystal cave with Ian. I now have stepping stones to walk over to get out. I know what I want to do but cannot get my cursor to change from being a magnifying glass. I can't walk forward at all. I've tried clicking everything in sight so I am now assuming that this is a technical problem. Help please.

Hey chrisd27,

From your description it sounds like the game is freezing. Uninstalling and reinstalling the game is a great first step and sometimes helps to clear that up.

Running the game as an administrator can also help make sure it has access to the needed resources to play.

Please be sure to contact Tech Support as well. They'll work with you directly to help figure out what may be causing those issues.

To reach them, please click on the green to the right of the page and then select the Contact Us link to the bottom left.

Hope this is helpful!
