Stuck in India: No water and no mangos

I see that I am not the only one out there that is stuck in some god-forsaken place without water to cook, or mangos to eat. I have tried everything that I can and all to no avail. If anyone out there figures this out please let the grest of us game-geeks know. I hate to spend money on a product that is faulty.

Water is in the Temple of Shiva, which can be accessed by putting the disc with arrows on the minigame of the temple door, then completing the minigame. Mangoes can be obtained by finding flute first (from one of the small rooms from the main scene, I think), using it on the snake beside the staff (or stick or something, I forgot the exact name of the object). Pick up the staff, and go to the mango tree. Use the staff on the mango tree. Pick up the mangoes.
