Post any Dr. Mal: Practice of Horror technical issues here only

[Post New]by bfgBiwa on Dec 17, 12 12:34 AM
If you are having problems getting the game to work correctly, we highly recommend going to our Help pages. Using our Help pages is always the quickest way to get technical problems resolved. Here are a few suggested articles that have helped many people correct these types of problems in the past:

Game Crashing, Freezing, or Blank Screen
Game Compatibility

While we can offer a known solution for technical issues in the Forums, or other tech savvy pond residents can swim by with good tips and suggestions, we cannot provide the same excellent level of support provided by our Customer Support team.

The Forums are not very well suited for the kinds of information gathering and troubleshooting that get these types of issues corrected quickly.

If there is a problem with the game, our Support Team can also gather necessary information on what types of computers are being affected by the problem and deliver this information to the developer for a fix.

If you are not able to get a game working properly using our Help pages, please get in touch with our Customer Support team, you can find a link to contact our Support team on the front page of our Help pages.

When posting in this thread and also when contacting our Support Team, it would be helpful if you could state what system you are playing the game on (i.e. PC, MAC or Mobile), so we can provide you with the appropriate support as quickly as possible.

*Finally, please reserve this thread for tech issues only. If you are seeking game play assistance (i.e. hints and tips), the best thing to do is to start a new thread in the game's Forum by clicking on 'Create New Discussion.'

@Mossy224 Click on the notice board behind the desk to go to Mal's Trinkets - is the red shoe trinket available? If so, click on it to see the next patient.

Hi Fishies,

africanclark, when a game freezes like this and uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't help, it may be worthwhile to check if a small update is missing.
Here are a few suggested articles that have helped many people correct these types of problems in the past:

Game Crashing, Freezing, or Blank Screen

@purusty - when you collect enough stars to diagnose the first patient, you are asked if you want to see the next patient right away. I presume you clicked "no" at this point.

At any time, you can click on Mal's noticeboard by his desk, and click on one of the trinkets to switch to another patient.

Oh, and FYI, there are fifty patients.

Hope this helps.

Think I Found a Bug

In the achievements awards, there is a section for number of cards played in sequence. The awards appear to be for strings of 5, 10, 15, 25, and 30 cards. I don't seem to be getting the 5 or 30 card awards, although the game summary says that I have played that number in a sequence. Can Desktop Gaming folks look into this? Since the awards aren't labelled, it's possible that what I think are 5 and 30 card awards are actually something else. It's kind of annoying to try to fill the awards board and not succeed.... Thanks, guys!

Update: I have realized that, if playing in tricky mode, I can get the 5 string award, but not the 10. It may not be the mode, but which award is acquired first - if I get the 10 early on, the 5 never is awarded, even if I have exactly that string later. Also, in non-tricky mode, if you acquire lots of extra cards, most of them are the same card - it's like the random number generator can handle only so many iterations before falling through (yes, I'm a retired systems engineer).

yes I've had the same problem with the card sequences. I can get 5, 15, 25, but not 10, 20, 30 despite achieving them all.

I don't think the 'whack-a-mal' has a generation problem in easy mode. It merely generates cards that help you get rid of the cards showing on the screen. So if you have only a queen visable on the screen, the whack a mal will only generate jacks and kings. If you have lots of cards visable, it will generate lots of different cards.

Hi guys.

Sorry for the delay.

First, the cards awarded in the whack a mal game are given based on need. So if you only have a few cards left, you'll be given cards that you can actually use. This can result in a lot of the same cards being given, but is the better alternative to playing the game and being given a bunch of useless cards. Or to put it another way, emugirl is correct.

The other problem has me intrigued. I'll take a look tomorrow... Well, today... 00:20am here! It's meant to give you the highest award possible which you don't already have. So if you get a run of 14 cards, you'll get a 10 card award. If you then get a run of 11, you'll get the 5 card award (because you already have the 10), and so on.

An update may be a while in coming but I'll let you know my findings ASAP.

OK, problem is now fixed.

There's still the process of re-testing to go through but hopefully the update should be available via Game Manager soon.

Thanks for picking this up!
