Hi: I'm trying to download Word Search Deluxe and it doesn't show any of the game catagories-- so it won't play. I've treid to re-load it, but it didn't help. Any suggestions? reichspot

Same problem here. I used the free download on my Windows XP desktop and played one game and liked it. I wanted it on my laptop with Vista but just like you I don't see any catagories.

I just looked at the release date - Jan. 2005 - might not be Vista compatible.

Any news on when this game will be fixed? I would really like to play it -- and no doubt buy it. I have countless other Big Fish games that work great!

Here's the fix that Big Fish sent me for the category issues

They suggested this first:

Both Shockwave and Flash are made by Adobe. Updating these two programs is easy and free - it requires two simple and fast downloads from Adobe’s website.

Adobe Flash Player
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Adobe Shockwave
http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/

Next, follow the download and install/update instructions for both players on the Adobe site.

If this doesn't help to fix the issue I would recommend to run the game in the XP compatibility mode. Therefore please follow the steps below.

Run in XP Compatibility Mode:
1) First, adjust the Vista settings to show hidden files and folders (Start > Control Panel > Classic View > Folder Options > View > Show hidden files and folders)
2) Then, open the game folder (Start > Computer > C drive (Local Disk, Vista Drive) > Program Files > Word Wizard Deluxe)
3) Right-click on the faded or grayed out game icon and select Properties (.exe file)
4) Click on the Compatibility tab, and check the box to "Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP (Service Pack 2)"
5) Now, double-click on the game icon to start the game

Here a link to handy help page article with visual instructions on it >>>>> http://bigfishgames.com/help/index.html?rn=414

I did this last night and it worked like a charm! Good luck!

Check the other threads. If you're using Vista, all you need to do is run in admin mode. It works!

Compatibility works, too. Given the choice, I'll take compatibility. It's one less step to start the game.

Further test - under Vista, you do see the categories if you are in XP-SP2 compatibility mode. However, you cannot save a category to the "My Favorites" category unless you are in admin mode.
