I got the message on the bridge, but can't read it

I finally got the message from the statue, but can't read it. What do I do?

Right click on pedestal to get the paper under the label on the pedestal. The message goes to inventory. Use the cell phone and talk to Francois. He will tell you where Barbora Kanska lives. (what the message says)

I cannot read the message either. Cannot use the cell phone. I can pick it up, but that is it. I cannot get off the bridge & this is the SLOWEST game I have ever seen!!
I have lots of large file adventure games & never had so many problems with them until downloading from BigFish. HELP, please??!!
