Why not a skip button

This is the most frustrating game I have purchased. To me, there is no rhyme or reason to the mini game of bringing down the gate to contain the beast.
Please tell me...why wasn't a skip button installed, when the game was being created? I have stopped playing, the gate segment, more than once, and each time I try, it just gets more and more frustrating.
