Morning, all...

I do wish the developers wouldn't have added the "Mania" to this (and the previous) game, because it is a very misleading word. I almost didn't even bother to demo the first "Trade Mania" game, because I don't play fast-paced click-click-click TM games.

But I am glad I did, because "Trade Mania" has no mania in it. It's a similar game to "Monopoly". I play it fairly regularly, and love this game.

So, I am really happy to see they have made a "number 2" - [no]pun intended - LOL

Unless I will intensely dislike this game after the demo (for whatever reason), I will get this game with a PCC.

After having played the demo for a short while, I am not so sure I want to get this game after all. It plays like the first "Trade Mania" game, but it has slightly evolved.
For example, you can now gamble, if you step onto the "Casino" token, and you can now bid for another property if another person wants to sell their place.

I like the fact that you will get another go if you get the "Event" card. But what I don't like is that the Newspaper, when it comes up, doesn't go away by itself, but you have to click on it. I have found that the Newspaper can come up quite often, and it and the accompanying music don't stop until you click on it. This can get quite annoying (for me).

I didn't care for the first city I had to play (Vancouver) - most likely because it was just too packed with buildings. Was barely able to see the path I and my co-buyers had to use.

So, I will have a think about this game.

Thank you, Teach.

--- --- ---

I have played the whole demo hour and then decided to buy the game after all, because it has lots of different things added to it.

Now, I see that several people complaint that in the San Francisco area the other 3 players already own a property, but we don't. Well, I am glad this game has more of a challenge than the last one.

I have played the first "Trade Mania" game many times, but got a little bored with it, because it was just too easy. I always won, and was never challenged while playing.

This game adds a nice challenge in that in the second game (San Francisco) everyone already owns 1 property except me. I don't know what the third game has in store for me, but I can't wait.

I have no problems playing the San Francisco game. So far, I own more than 5 properties, and have plenty of money (am not gambling just now). If you don't buy the very expensive properties right away, you should have no problems catching up to the other players.

I still wish they would have done away with the newspapers. In the San Francisco game they show up all the time. It's really annoying when you have to keep clicking on them to go away, and it's actually annoying that they show up in the first place.

What I have also noticed is that every so often the game zooms in again (I am about 3 clicks zoomed out). Sometimes, for no reason, it seems, the picture zooms in, and I have to zoom out again. Not a deal-breaker for me, but a tad annoying.
ETA: Just realised that whenever it's my turn to move, and I then point my cursor at any of the properties, that's when I zoom in, but not at any other time.

Other than that, I am really enjoying this game.

ETA: Forgot to say that, as I mentioned before in my other post, I find that the image of the cities so far are too busy. Sometimes it's hard to see where the path goes, what with all those different buildings and colours of the city image. I found it much nicer and easier on the eye in the first "Trade Mania" game.

I have now finished "San Francisco" and am starting on "Moscow". Here too the other players each have already a property.

I enjoyed the challenge much more with "San Francisco", because it was harder and took longer to get to the end. After the initial struggle, I accumulated around $3 million, and after that I never got below a million. It was tough going, especially with the last person left in San Francisco, but it was fun.

Agree that the background clutter makes it harder to see where opponents and things are, but I can deal.

As for the newspaper - seems to work exactly the same as in the first game - it doesn't go away until clicked and the music is annoying as it ever was and lasts about a minute. So there is silence after a short while (I often get up and get a cuppa, etc. when it's not my turn, so if an AI player then gets 'evented' the music will play while I'm away in the kitchen, etc.).

I am liking that the AI opponents aren't as stupid as before and they aren't as locked into certain behavior patterns (although, they still buy vehicles when they shouldn't).

Just wanted to add that I have now successfully finished all 3 campaigns, and am playing the custom games.

What I really love is that the tasks are also part of the custom games, and not just been added to the campaigns, as was the case with the first "Trade Mania" game. That makes the custom games far more enjoyable for me.

After having played all 3 campains, I can now say for certain that the game zooms in (and even out) of the map quite frequently without my doing anything. The game zooms in willy-nilly, not just when I am pointing at a property, but also at other times. That really could do with a fix.

And I have to say again that I was struggling quite often to find the path or even the person whose turn it was next among all that scenery, most likely because I was zoomed out quite a bit, but not all the way. I really prefer the cities of the first game much more. But I do prefer the gameplay of this game. So ideally I would have liked to have the maps of the first game and the gameplay of this game.

ETA Hi Sewbizzy, we seemed to have posted at the same time.

You are right about the newspaper having been this way in the first game. I disliked it popping up all the time then, and dislike it now. Just thought I would mention it this time so in case the developers will make a third game, they might take it under consideration?

well, we could hope, but I won't hold my breath.

I don't like the weird zooming in thing, either. I have noticed it happens mostly when I have step cards to use. And, once I get a good amount of cash, I have step cards, so I think it's something I'll just have to get used to.

Did anyone else notice that the movement in Moscow is counterclockwise? That threw me for a bit of a loop...

Yes, it was most confusing. Here I was, ready to go left, as I always do, and everyone just went to the right. Took me a while to get used to the change.

Casino rules

Does anyone know what the rules are for betting in the casino? The AI opponents all seem to be winning tens of thousands, I can't seem to win more than 2000.

Yes. The rule is: Don't bet. You cannot win. Roulette is for suckers. That would be both in real life and in this game.

The AIs don't actually bet - they just land there and win or lose some randomly assigned amount of money.

Actual players can risk their cash on hand and bet...but it's just a money drain.

So after the first couple times I landed on the casino, I just skip the betting. Think of it as a 'parking' spot - you're stuck there. Just collect your factory moneys and move on.

Hi Sewbizzy. I agree completely. Well, first, I couldn't figure out how to play at the casino. I had to google the rules for roulette. I suggest that Sylvanmoonscape. I mean, I'm not 007. Although vodka martinis should be stirred, not shaken, I prefer them "shaken, not stirred." Anyway, I got tired seeing my opponents win thousands most of the time so I tried it. I hardly ever won, even just betting evens or odds. So I skip it & just see it as a free space. Still trying to get thru Moscow. Maybe after I have millions of rubles...
