How does my chief point out collectables?

I put him at the top of the hill and he said pointing out collectables but when i looked around there were none there?

Does he point in a particular direction? Should i be doing something special? Lost.....please help.

You need to wait until the rainbow is over the chief's head. He/She is only able to point a collectible out once a "day". They don't actually "point" so it can be anywhere on the screen. Good luck!

have put the chief at the top of the path they say they are pointing out the collectable but do not see the rainbow and no collectable is found do you have to place a child on the chief when the rainbow is there or after

have tryed again the get chief to point out collectable. he is put at the top of the path and stands there for a moment no rainbow but he will point out toward the tribe but not collectable is seen or rainbow on either trible member or chief is it a possible glitch in my version of the game?

is this actually useful? does the game generate a rare collectible if you use this ability? or does he just point out something worthless like a mushroom?

don't have level 3 yet, so just wondering.
