cannot get the necessary woood what am I doing wrong if anything

Cut down every tree because you need every single one, including any blocked by a bandit. I had 2 stone & 2 food producing sites, paid off all the bandits, cut down all the trees to have enough wood to finally upgrade the hut, which gave me the 3 people needed to repair the market. Because I had so much stone and food produced by then, when I got the market built, I was able to use the market exchange of 200 stone or 200 food for 100 pieces of wood, and then you only need to exchange another 50 stone or 50 food for the last 25 pieces of wood to complete the objective.
