Locked in basement

I am locked in the basement and I took the cover off the door, but when I go to use the puzzle piece it tells me to take the cover off. Am I doing something wrong?

Yes I am having the same problem. uninstalled and re-installed still stuck!!

Started the game over -got out this time.

I too am locked in the basement and just tried uninstalling and reinstalling so will now take your suggestion and start over.
