Gold prizes: has Big Fish only heard of the US-dollar ?!?!?!

[Post New]by L_Amour on Jul 1, 13 8:02 AM
I'm Dutch and I play the game from the Dutch appstore.
When I tap the buy gold section, Big Fish shows the gold prizes in US dollars.
When I tap "buy", for me the exact same prizes show up in Euro's.
For example: $ 44,99 = € 44,99.

Sorry to say, but I've learned something else about rates!
Is Big Fish willing to do something about this?

This is UNACCEPTABLE !

Hi L_Amour,

Thanks for letting us know about that. I'll be sure to pass that along to our team here, since we certainly don't want to make the prices confusing.

Happy gaming,

BfGSeine,

What I tried to tell you, is that I actually have to PAY the same prize in Euro's!
When I tap the buy gold button, the game connects to Appstore and asks me to confirm if I want to buy it for the same prize in Euro's. The amount of US dollars isn't converted to Euro's.
So, it's not a matter of confusing, it's a matter of not being fair.
I refuse to pay more then other people are paying in US dollars!

Btw, I'm very sorry for those people who live in a country with a currency that makes it in their profit .....

Based on the rate of July 1, I shouldn't have to pay € 44,99 for $ 44,99, but € 34,52 (for 480 gold in this example)
On reference date July 1, óne Euro = $1.3037 American dollar !!!

I hope my message is clear now.

We had the exact same problem when BFG first set up in Europe and organised local currency payments for membership, and PC/Mac games.

A 1 for 1 rate of exchange .

This is what L_Amour is complaining about, and I will too if that is done for £.

I am sure it is a programming glitch, BFG couldn't be that disingenuous.

Hi L_Amour,

Just popping in to let you know that the prices that are quoted for in game currency are correct and have already been converted to Euro.

The good thing about the AppStore is that it will always recognise your location and adjust to local currency according, so any prices quoted to you in game have already been adjusted to match the US dollar value.

In case it helps, I am in Ireland and so my prices are showing up the same as yours, in Euro and at the following price points:

0.89 cent for 8 gold, 4.49 Euro for 40 gold, 8.99 Euro for 90 gold and so on.

I hope this helps to clear things up!

Yes, I see that although it says $ the game would charge me in the UK in sterling, so £6.99 for 90 Gold, which would be a rate of exchange of £1=Euro 1.28.

Heya Frogmort,

Glad we could clear this up a little. When looking at the Gold bundles you can purchase, keep in mind that the bill that is being displayed next to the price does not actually stand for US-Dollar but it only a general currency indicator that let's you know that this purchase will be charged to your payment method.

When looking at the exchange rates, please also keep in mind that the exchange rate is set by the AppStore directly and that Big fish has no influence on it .

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the clarification bfgBiwa and bfgBaikal!

Just wondering this - if the change in amount can be programmed, might the currency descriptor be programmed too?

Even if it's GBP or EUR or USD instead of $? To avoid confusion.

Thanks for clarifying!

I'm only a bit traumatised with another game, in which all kinds of prizes (real money but also game silver and gold) differ per player, that's also why I asked.

I guess you don't mind if we check eachothers goldprizes?
I'll do that on the board on which I have friends from all over the globe, playing Dark Manor too.

I heard what you said about Apple.
I'll be back here to tell if we have huge differences. If not, you can assume it's okay.

Hi Frogmort,

We've forwarded that on to our team here for consideration. As mentioned, we certainly don't want that to be confusing, even if the currency is displaying the correct price.
