Levels 9 +

[Post New]by pjplanner on Aug 5, 13 11:46 AM
I thought this was a really good game at first - the next best thing to PvZ until I reached level 9. Why do they make games with loads of levels that you can't actually reach? It is so frustrating because whatever I do I cannot get anywhere with these levels. I have tried everything and because you cannot generate enough cash to buy the necessary weapons you lose every time!! Has anyone got any tips on which way to go with these. You absolutely have to have water, boards, money and ammo chests so that is 4 of your slots used up to begin with. But you have to go for cheap weapons so you can afford them and they are not man enough to deal with the big guys and those that need specialised weapons. I am at a loss and I really want to progress. The other disappointment (I think) is that you cannot go back and replay levels or start the game again from level 1 (retaining all your knowledge and weapons) like you can in P v Z. Also you lose a life if you want to restart the level so you can't practice with different weapons.

You mean stage 9 starting from level 9-1? right?

Skeleton Pirates is not entirely like PvZ, I think the developer added up some good challenges to spice things up. It's getting more and more challenging as you go, otherwise, why play next levels if it is not going to be more challenging than the previous ones. That being said, I think you should just change your strategy and use a different set of weapons, here is what I suggest to do: get the pink cannon and place 2 of them in the lanes where it's damaged, it shoots 3 bullets in 3 lanes, that way you could cover all lanes with just 2 weapons. Also pick the blue cannon, it can freeze the pirates and cause damage, use lots of them. Don't forget to pick the small blue cannon, it can do damage to the first wave of regular pirates and costs 25 which gives you the luxury to buy the pricy weapons early before the nasty pirates approach, it also can shoot backward bullets that can cause more damage than the forward ones (it's useful if a pirate gets past your weapons). I must stress on something very important: place as much silver chests as you can, the best setting is to place 9 silver chests and one gold chest.

You actually can go back and restart from level 1-1, just change your name (captain) from the main menu and enjoy playing from the start.

Happy hunting.

Thanks for the tips - I will try your strategy. I do use lots of silver chests and the small blue cannon but I will try the others too and see how I get on.

Nope - no good. I have to use a silver chest, a gold chest, a bucket, a catapult (for the crawlies) at least one bomb for the cannon firing ones, planks - that's 6 already. If I go for a small blue cannon and the pink multi firing one and the blue freezing one as well there is no way I can generate enough money to place all necessary weapons in time to defeat. They come in droves all of a sudden and there are not enough weapons so I am giving up and forgetting it as I can't bear the frustration!!! The pirate with the cannon can wipe out all your chests and create holes before are able stop it then all is lost! Also you have to fill the gaps or you can't stop the pirates once they are on the move as there is no where to place your weapons.

And if you start a new game with a new name then you lose all your weapons and you start from scratch. What is the point of that..... At least with P v Z you can replay levels with all your weapons and try different tactics.

The bear traps will also stop the crawling skeletons. A less costly weapon than the catapult. I am not up to level 9 yet so maybe the fire is worse, but on the lower levels with fire I usually skip the water bucket as it seems pointless to put the fire out when it just keeps starting up again.

Important to keep replaying as much as you have to, and get enough money to purchase all the weapons slots. By level 9, you need ALL of them!

I finally reached stage 9! And there I sit, over and over. I have replayed level 9-1 22 times. Count them, 22 times. I have over 3300 gold, so I don't have to waste a slot on a gold chest. But fireball pirates, cannon pirates, zombie pirates and rope swinging pirates, plus all those same ones that fly, plus fire on deck and two whole rows of holes just has me stymied. I have tried every weapon combo I can think of....but between the fireballs and cannons (sometimes 2 fireball pirates and 4 cannon pirates at a time!), they wipe out all my weapons and half my silver chests before I can do anything about it.

I like a challenge, but I see no way to win from here.

I've also been stuck on level 9 --- got up to 9-5 and then pfffffft. I simply can't generate enough silver to buy the barrels and shields, and that is the ONLY way I know to stop the fireball pirate who wipes out everything you have. You HAVE to buy the black cannons to stop the invisible wizards AND the fire cannons to stop the green guys AND the barrels and shields AND the planks but you aren't given enough time to generate silver because ALL of the tough customers are in the first wave. The first wave!!! In PVZ, at least you had a choice of weapons and the waves got progressively harder. When will game developers learn that we like a challenge, but we don't want to be made to feel like suckers for buying a game that sets you up to fail a hundred times in a row. I haven't found any walkthroughs and quite frankly I'm sick of trying. Next time I see a game from this developer, I'll pass. Not worth the aggravation.

@ squintz. Just change your tactics mate. Try using different weapons to whatever you're currently using. The levels are possible. I'm far from an expert gamer and I didn't die once during the game. You can't go pass the Cannon-Zilla/Freeze/Jack Cannon (for the ghosts but also causes heavy damage to others) combination. A good tactic, if you're not doing it right now, is to have a minimum of 5-6 silver chests up and running BEFORE killing the FIRST pirate. That way you are well on the way to a good income before the first major wave. As I indicated on another thread, use the upgraded traps as well.
I hope that helps you get passed it now.

You can survive on level 9 if you ignore the smoke and use the silver chest, the plank, blue double cannon, jack cannon, fire torch, small bomb, large bomb, round multi-bomb pink cannon & the TNT. Watch under the smoke. Bomb the cannon guys with the big bomb and the crawlies with the small bomb. The main trick is to use the TNT when it says "watch out". That means you have to have 350 worth from the stars so spend wisely at first when it gets close to that time. You also need jack cannons on each row for the ghosts. good luck!

I figured it out after 200 times on level nine. use the smart gun in the very back. Use all the other necessary weapons needed to defeat the particular enemies. The smart gun, bombards the enemy. The more smart guns you use, they more destruction you have. As soon as I started using the smart gun, I went from level 9-1 to level 9-10 in ten minutes. Now I am stuck on level 10 and am clueless. again.

Commiserations to all the players who haven't used the immortal pirates trick to gain 9999 ammo and have got this far. I really don't think you can get through the toughest levels (with immortals and fire pirates) if you're wasting a slot on ammo chest every time. Ditto wasting slot on bucket. Unfortunately, your only easy option may be to choose another Captain and start at the beginning, this time getting the 99999 ammo whilst it's easy to do. But it's still possible to get 99999 ammo if you play well.

It seems there are multiple strategies that work. The one I just used was: chest, mini-bomb, bomb, plank, twin mini-cannon (small blue), cannon-reezer (blue), mace catapult, flame-thrower, smart gun or jack cannon. Notice there's no barrel. The reezers go in the first column, jacks or mace in the 4th column. If you have rope pirates, at this late stage they'll swing over to the 2nd column, but then be frozen by reezer. You can use mini-bomb if ropes destroy a chest and/or you've no reezer in the row yet. If you have it, smart gun in centre column 2. You have to be smart with chest placement so each chest pays off, even if you have to dig it up to place something else. You also have to get a couple of planks with chests in column 2 and 3 of one of the trenches, and later planks in column 6 of both trenches with twin mini-cannon. It's only the levels with immortals that are going to be a problem. Make sure you have planks in column 7 of the trenches so you can bomb or mini-bomb or flame-throw immortals there. Reezer and twin mini-cannon will stop the fire pirates being a problem, so make sure they're built (after jack cannons).

There hasn't been an easy level for a while in this Chapter, but in previous Chapters I've brought ammo chest instead of flame-thrower to top up ammo. Obviously, not if there's immortals, cannons or fire pirates in this Chapter. In previous Chapters, there's usually been an easy level with immortals to get to 99999 ammo again, but I've not risked it in this Chapter.

I've just made it to 10-1 and have no idea what to expect, with half my deck destroyed, but I'm going to persevere with my current reezer/twin mini-cannon/mace/flame-thrower strategy for now. It's got me this far.

Yes, my strategy still works! Obviously, I had to throw out mace catapult, as there are only flying pirates. Not too many immortals at first in the first few levels, so I've got time to build jack cannons gradually. Smart gun is excellent.
