I have seen the same questions asked in different threads. So I thought I'd start a thread that will help new players (and old ones).
- You can only add a friend once you are on level 6 - not before.
- When you receive a gift, first click on the gift itself to see who it's from, before accepting it.
- When you send a gift, you will receive a "Thank You" card in return.
- Don't forget the "Wheel of Fortune" (it's in the Bailey) - you can get a FREE SPIN once a day.
- If you don't know where you are, go one step back or forward, and then come back. At the top of your screen, the name of the area appears for a short time.
- Your Inventory has 3 sections: your Items, those rectangular Marks (plus gift boxes you get every once in a while, but can't be used just yet), and your Pets (the paw sign).
- The Laboratory, where you craft objects, has 2 sections: Items, and Pets.
If you want to craft a pet, click on the Paw, and then click on any of the pet names.
- Pets: The Winged Cat is the only pet that doesn't need an egg to be crafted.
- The Snow Griffin is the only pet that requires 10 "Thank You" cards.
- If you have more than one pet, and want to change it, click on your Inventory, then click on the Paw, and then click the "Set" tab of the pet you want to use.
- All items, except for the gift boxes you receive from time to time, can be sold.
- To get into the Achievements, click on your Avatar. This is also where you can change your avatar and your name.
- To find out your ID number, click on your Avatar, below which is a list with information of your gameplay so far, and shows your ID number.
You can also see your ID number when you click on the "Friends" tab, and then on "Add a friend". Your ID will show at the top.
- In the "Castle vicinity" is a tower to which an Airship is tied. You can fill it with the required items, and send it off to get some money and perhaps a few other things in return. If I remember correctly, the airship will be there for 15 or 16 hours, and then leave. It will then come back at a later time for you to refill it again - or not.
- In the Tavern you can try your luck with a game of dice.
- Once you have reached level 18 and finished all the quests, the Raven will ask you to speak to the "Keeper of the Castle". You will not be able to continue from here on until we get an updated version with more areas to explore.
--- --- ---
This is all I can think of for now. If anybody has any other info they want to add, please do.

There is no more space in the first post, and I just remembered something else:
- If you open the game every day, you get a "Daily Bonus", which goes up until the 5th day, and then starts again with Day 1.
As with the FOUND game, which is from the same developers (Elephant Games), if you don't open the game for a day, the next time you play the game, the "Daily Bonus" will start again from Day 1, no matter how far up you were the last time you entered the game.
Edited to add:
Each HOS goes through 5 stages:
At first it takes about 2 1/2 minutes for the HOS to become active again, the second time it takes 5 minutes, the third time 10 minutes, the fourth time 30 minutes, and the 5th and final time it takes an hour until you can play a HOS again.
--- --- ---
When you do quests, make sure you play all the HOS available, even those that don't need to be played for a quest. This way you will be able to collect objects from the HOS that you will need in later quests.
--- --- ---
ETA:
About Just John
When you are able to open the Friends tab, you are asked to add John aka Just John to your Friends list. Everybody has to do this - it's part of the tutorial.
Just John is on level 21, he was there at the beginning, and he is there still. He has no ID number. He is not one of us. He is someone from the developer's side, perhaps someone who beta tested the game, and is now the default player. So don't expect to see him among us here on the forum.

Don't forget the flowers...
Each area has flowers that appear briefly. Click on 5 of them and get 10 coins. Sometimes you will get a purple gem instead. I just do a quick scan in between each HOG scene.
10 coins may not seem like much but it can add up quickly
P.S. Awesome job Valdy !!

Here here Valdy! I wish this had been up when I first started - VERY helpful!
Perhaps this can be flagged to stay at the top?

I love this game ... at first. Now I don't understand how to get past level 4! It takes longer and longer for the 3 HOGs to regenerate and I'm frustrated - I'm getting the same (non-helpful) items over and over... is it just a matter of playing a long time or am I missing something?
Thanks!!
Nevermind I figged it out - dumb de dumb dumb =)

Thanks everyone for your posts. And thanks a lot, Govols, for mentioning the flowers. I completely forgot about them, even though I pick them up all the time. LOL
I edited my second post to add the part about how long it takes for the HOS to become active again. Forgot to mention that as well.
Have a beautiful Sunday, everyone.

Regarding finding Flowers:
When you collect 5 flowers the very first time, you will only receive 1 gold coin. But each time after that, you will get 10 gold coins for each 5 flowers you find.
When you have found 100 flowers, you will receive 1 diamond as an achievement. Collect 1000 flowers and you will receive 3 diamonds (haven't been anywhere near that amount yet, so I can't tell you how many flowers you have to find and how much you get for them for the third and final Florist achievement.)

|
|
|
|
|
|
The last one is 10000 flowers and you get 5 diamonds

Heya Valdy and everyone,
Thanks so much for compiling this great list!
I'm going to go ahead and sticky the thread, so it stays at the top!

Oh, thank you, Deveron, for making this a sticky.
Angeleye... thank you for letting us know the huge amount of flowers you need to pick before receiving 5 diamonds. Sounds exhausting... LOL

Hi Christi,
Each time you complete a HOG you get rewarded with things you can use in the game. Each HOG can reward you with 4 different inventory items.
Check out the topic "Getting what you want". Amerzone has great instructions on how to get the item you need.
You can also put an item on your "wish list" in the game and maybe a friend will gift it to you.
Good luck! Friend code 41445 LizzieK

Thanks to Valdy and all who gave tips, I no longer feel like I'm flying blind! I've been wondering how many levels I'd have to play to qualify for another pet - never thought to look in the lab to make one. Shades of Dr Frankenstein

Thanks for this info. I needed the "pet" info.

Hi Penula
You can buy eggs with diamonds - cost a fortune, though.
Other than that, you get an egg by spinning the "Wheel of Fortune". It won't appear every day, but there will be one every so often. You can also add an egg to your wish list. Some players have more luck than others winning eggs, and may hand one over to you.
Can't remember now whether there is another way, except that the 2 side tabs when you craft an object may also give you an egg. Never happened to me...
