Why was no one on here at 4:00 am. Central Time to start this thread but me????? Hmmmm?

First of all, let me say that I loved this game - played the CE demo only so far and purchased it immediately (didn't even wait for Bonus Punch Monday (yeah, I earn my free coupons that way). It caught me early into the game and I knew it was a "buy" for me.

There were a number of "bugs/glitches" in the original CE game but those were taken care of quickly so I'm going to assume the SE is all good and golden and ready to play.

The story comes in pieces as you put portraits together (after you find their pieces). The HOGs were great - not mish-mashy or piles wherein you can't find anything and the mini games, I will admit, had me stumped more often than not - but you HAVE to love a good stump now and then. The graphics were great and the music sooo not annoying - gotta give the devs credit for that.

As for the storyline, I'll let the BFG MOD get to that or other reviewers. I just wanted ya'll to know that, IMHO (for whatever that's worth), this is a great game, has length, a good story, mystery, intrigue and entertainment value.

No, really, all kidding aside, I can't remember why I bought the dang thing at all - KIDDING!

I appreciate all who take the time to write on this thread because I do read the reviews and, sometimes, they are what helps me decide which side of the fence I'm going to jump on. So, many thanks.

I hope this helps you decide whether to try the game or not. Purchasing, again, is a personal decision.

Happy Gaming!

Cursed Castle is a Blessing

It's refreshing to find something interesting here today. The concept is not totally new: an old family, the Flatsbury's, and a castle, a curse, and of course, a flaming knight - literally flaming, I should add . This story you are investigating, as Ms. Gale, takes place in modern England but the castle and curse date back to the 13th century.

This is not the usual rehash of the familiar elements we've been putting up with of late. The designers clearly put some thought into the game as well as the game play. There are quite a few hidden object scenes, but they present as progressive, put back, silhouette, reassemble and other variations, as well as the standard lists. They will take a little more time to solve than average.

One thing I especially liked was there was not too much dialog or constant attempts to scare. There are a few here and there but they're very brief. Recognizing there is enough creepiness in a 13th century castle, the scare factor is not overdone. The voices we do hear are well acted: very serious policemen, - or should I say constables - a child, and a ghostly being. The play is not too hard, but you do have to think a little bit.

There is a map and also a journal which keeps a record of the cut scenes and clues you find. In the CE there are morphing objects too, and they are more difficult to spot than most. These objects vary by scene to add even more difficulty. To collect them you must click when they are morphing.

There is also a gallery - you'll collect pieces of paintings as you progress and when you have all the pieces, you'll reassemble the painting. These are jigsaw type puzzles, really not too hard. Once assembled, the paintings add to the back story.

There is a lot of fun here, and I have not yet mentioned the music. It complements the eerie atmosphere perfectly, keeping the tension high and not distracting from the play. And the semi-realistic drawing style is easy on the eyes and utilizes a full palette.

I own the CE, have finished the game and enjoyed it very much.

Curse or no, this is a castle worth exploring.

This is probably one of the best SE games I've played, and believe me, I've played and own a LOT! It's challenging, not just simple hidden objects, but ones that you will enjoy. Played the demo and didn't waste one minute to purchase. Nice and long game for a SE. This gets high ratings from me.

A long game that ended well as a SE. Very good voice-overs and the dialog and cutscenes were well done and not overwhelming as some games can be. I actually spent the time to listen to them narrate the story this time. Music well done.

Graphics and annimations were good. HOS were varied and interesting so they were actually fun to play. HINT and SKIP refreshed quickly so if you are not a puzzle player like me, you can move on through the game. Although some of the puzzles were quite good and interesting to play. Transporter map was excellent and I did use it and the transporter hint. I don't think you will need to use the strategy guide or those things (I never use them anyway) in this game.

Story was one that has been done before, but was still good and I enjoyed it. The game did sometimes get a bit draggy, but was still fun to play...a lot of things to do. A game I would play again just because it ended so "feel good"! Has some scary moments, but not too bad for those who don't like that kind of stuff.

I give this a 4+ out of 5 and a big

I bought the SE and really enjoyed playing this very loooong game! I agree that the HOS are varied and fun to play. I skipped most of the puzzles... well, almost ALL the puzzles. The skip button didn't take too awfully long to fill, but I will never understand why we should have to wait any time at all to skip puzzles.

steve_san and bessiegirl write such wonderful reviews. I can think of only a couple of times I haven't completely agreed with one or the other, and with this game, I wholeheartedly DITTO them both.
