Lego Fever Level 5-1: I am so stuck!

How the heck do you cover the tar pits? I try using the free bricks but they won't stay on top of the tar pits. Anyone know?

You have to use the bridges at the top of the screen. Drag them down and put them over the bridge. What I need to know is how do you get the Lego guy to turn around? I can get him to rescue one but cannot get him to turn around to rescue the other. Anyone know how?
