The fire

I need to put out the fire before i can place the amulet into the totem pole, but the bucket of water won't work . I keep clicking on the highlighted bit, but I'm not getting anywhere. Any suggestions?

I, too, am stuck with the fire under the statue. I have a chisel, the water bucket, and the completed amulet. How do you put out the fire?
