after moving rooms

I have managed to get through moving rooms, and through the alchemy door but when I click on the snake symbol, nothing happens, I believe I should hear Nancy speak.

You will have to get through the moving rooms several times so remember how you did it so that you can get back and forth from there. After you have clicked on the door with the snake symbol, talk to Niles in the library about it. Then go back to that door again.

Thanks, I will try that, I have already gone through 4/5 times, but will continue. Does it matter that I got lost, (according to the walkthrough as I could not do it on my own), and went in the wrong door etc

It does not matter if you get lost. You really only need to get through the moving rooms to get to the lab.

I have been through the rooms now eight times, but still cannot click on snake and hear Nancy speak. Any other ideas, please, I think I am going mad

Did you already talk to Niles about the snake? Does the door now have some symbols on it with a big pot? If so, you have to do the alchemy puzzle. You have to look on the cell phone to find out what mixtures you need to create before you can open that door.
