Thought I would share this for the US fishies who like listening to radio. I felt the more people that knew about this issue...the more it might not get passed.
In case anyone didn't know.. the record labels are lobbying for a performance tax to be levied against radio stations for playing what they say is "free music". There is a web site that explains this issue in more detail and if anyone wants the web site PM me and I will send it.
Essentially if the performance tax is passed - radio stations would have to pay this tax to the record labels. This would lower the amount of community service that many stations do... some stations could fold all together and many could lose their jobs. Would also lower the variety of music that is played on various stations as well. I doubt you'd hear as many new or breakout artists either.
I listen to the radio in my car and when I do my paper routes. I enjoy hearing new artists and getting a chance to see if I like them.
I will definately be contacting my congress representatives to let them know I don't like this one bit.

For the most part I stopped listening to the radio. I buy individual songs and use my mp3. No commercials or talking.

Geez...what are the Labels whining about???
Air time is FREE advertising for them
They should pay the stations, especially when a new artist is involved.
Such greed!!
(aw man....I am missing my suspicios emoticon !! Anybody else?????)
