Beware downloading demo of new version from YoudaGames

I got a Trojan Horse from downloading the hour-long demo of the new version of Governor of Poker from YoudaGames.com.

I love Governor of Poker but got frustrated with the "Next Day/Blue Screen" bug in my old version of the game from Iwin.com -- I was able to get one player/profile up to $34,000 and had purchased almost all of the towns but then the game got stuck and the Next Day button wouldn't refresh it anymore...it would just go blank with a blue screen and that player could no longer advance. The game will allow me to start completely over with a new player but it's frustrating to have to start all over from zero. I read on Big Fish + other Gov of Poker forums that a new updated version of the game was available from the developer so I went to Youdagames.com. I first downloaded the hour-long demo and indeed it was the new version, version 3.0, I played for a while then purchased it and entered my registration keycode to activate it. However, during the initial download, a TROJAN HORSE ("trojan-pwc-daolon") was dropped into my system from the Youdagames site and I have had to spend the last 3 days scouring my hard drive + files to get rid of it. It was really scary but a wake-up call for me to be more careful in the future about what sites I download from plus a reminder to update my virus/spyware protection. Fortunately Webroot Spysweeper caught it and quarantined most of it before it could do major damage. I am still emailing back and forth with Youda to try to get a refund -- they do respond eventually but it takes them a while.

One other thing... Before all of this happened to me with the download of the free demo with the malware, Michelle at YoudaGames Customer Support gave me a potentially helpful tip to fix the Next Day/Blue Screen bug in the old version of the game...it doesn't work with old existing player/profiles that have already gotten stuck, however it may work for new player/profiles going forward. I still have to test it out with a new player...You have to adjust your Macromedia - Flash Settings: Go to: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html. Then 1.) Locate "local" in keyword list, 2.) Select "Local", and 3.) Use slider above the list to adjust/increase available save space in the Flash Player. Good Luck!

Whoops...looks like Luke 11 already posted the Flash Settings solution in his "Savegame fix" post. Sounds like it's working for him.

You should have got it from Big Fish, I did and had no problems.

Hi Anniejo -

I would have but I didn't think Big Fish had the updated version. Do you know if BF's download is the newest version 3.0 in which the Next Day/Blue Screen bug has been fixed?

Both the Youdagames version and the Bigfish version are exactly the same programs.
All games and updates from youdagames are trojan virus and spam checked.
The chances that you would end up with a trojan from a game downloaded from Youdagames is Zero.

The problem all companies are facing is that trojans are hidden in many other malicious applications and when and where you got it will almost always remain a mystery to you.

You can guess where you got the trojan but you will never be exactly sure.

Stating that Youdagames provided you a game with a trojan is not appropriate unless you are one hunderd percent sure.

Trojans tend to affect other parts on your system once they settle in your system.
So when you run a virus scanner it can hide itself in any piece of software save file or you name it.
But you were infected before that.

When your virusscanning is over it will show what software is infected bi the trojan but not the cause or the resource of the trojan. I can tell you that you will probably never know where it came from.

The virus scan in 99.9% of the cases show the damage a trojan has done.
Trojans are known to scatter on a system they infect dozens of files. Those files may then appear to be the source.

Get a the trojan removal tool for exactly the type of trojan you found Only then the source of that trojan on your CPU is removed and destroyed.
Virusscanners ussually have trouble to find the source but they are great at spotting the infected files.

Hope this helps!
