Madame Fate - Crap

Just to let who ever is interested know I hate this game. I signed on for Hidden Objects not Word Games. For this to win the 2007 award is crazy. The instructions are unclear on the games and even when your presse Hint - it's sometimes appears to just glow around nothing in particular.

I loved the other Mystery Case files and even Agatha Christies - Perial at End House is fantastic - I think this is Crap.

If I had paid for this game I'd be really annoyed.

Have a nice day :)

You are so right, it is one of the worst games I ever bought. It has no rhyme or reason to it. Sorry I bought it. Beware of anyone else trying to buy it.

To Jo--
I wasn’t going to comment as after all everyone has their likes and dislikes; however, since someone else has added their criticism, I decided to add mine after all.

Just to let who ever is interested know I hate this game. I signed on for Hidden Objects not Word Games. For this to win the 2007 award is crazy.

MF is an excellent multilayered hidden object game. It has all the items to find that one could wish for with cunning and sometimes humorous clues. The extras that you dislike for me add variety and mental stimulation while allowing my overstrained eyes to rest (the objects are hard to find which makes it exciting!). It won the 2007 Customer Favorite’s Award based on its ranking as favourite BF game download. It certainly is that by its rank in the top 100 downloads.

The instructions are unclear on the games and even when your presse Hint - it's sometimes appears to just glow around nothing in particular.

You said that you loved the other MCF games including I presume Ravenhearst. The puzzle instructions of MF and Ravenhearst are the same: pretty much – NONE. If you needed help, there are the forums, the strategy guides and walkthroughs available. The hints are really hints not exact answers.

I loved the other Mystery Case files and even Agatha Christies - Perial at End House is fantastic - I think this is Crap.

Ravenhearst was wonderful but a little too creepy at times. Peril is okay but too short and the objects repeat too often on replay. MF is my favourite. Its replayability is high because of the word games as opposed to the same old jigsaw puzzle. Added to that is the greater variety of objects and those mystery items. The story and its references to previous MCF games made me go back and replay all of them. I had fun looking for presages to MF. Did you know Art the Carny was one of the Prime Suspects?

If I had paid for this game I'd be really annoyed.

The 1 hour trial is for just that reason. It’s great that you did not waste your time or money on the game.

Have a nice day :)

Same to you and hope you find games you enjoy.

Oreo

While I respect your right to dislike this particular game, I do want to report to BFG that this is my very favorite hidden object game ever. I've enjoyed all of the MCF games. I find MF to be the most complex and diverse of the group. I enjoyed the variety of the puzzles instead of having only one or two kinds between hidden object screens.
Oreo pretty much summed up everything else I would have commented upon. Congratulations to BFG for the award for MF. It"s well deserved.
One final thought ... I'm hoping the new MCF game will be just as complex and diverse as Madame Fate.
Thanks for a great game.

I like this too because of its diversity. At first I didn't care for it but it was not because it had word puzzles mixed in with the hidden object puzzles, it was just that it was new and I didn't understand how some of the new features worked. After I got used to it and played it awhile I LOVED it.
To me the diversity is what makes the MCF games so fresh. Ravenhearst was my first and I loved it so I bought this latest version. At first I was lke okay how many hidden object games does one need, it would get old after awhile, but Madame Fate is different and you have other things to do besides just finding hidden objects. At least you know which areas will have the word games so you can do those when you are ready.

I don't think this game is crap either.. It's one of my top favs right now. I've been buying up all the "Huntsville" series because I LOVE these hidden object games. Love love love them! MF has been excellent for me. I love trying to figure out the little puzzles. The graphics are freaking amazing, and I love the little "distractions" they add in to make finding the objects a tad harder. I've downloaded a few other hidden object games from other sites that were nice too, but they were so easy (and I'm not any kind of expert gamer) that I'd finished them within hours. With MF I've had to do several chapters many times before I finally got everything done within the time limit, and I love that because I know this game is going to last awhile.

Faithful and True gamers will enjoy the MF game. Which I did it was not just a hidden object game, which was very refreshing. I have all the MCF games and I enjoyed all of them. Good that someone stood up for the true games. We are waiting for new MCF games.

Oreo, you said it best, and I'm SO with you on that! Madame Fate, by far, is my favorite game EVER! I've played it through at LEAST 10 to 12 times already, and I STILL haven't had enough! I think the thing that makes it stand out from all the other hidden object games ARE the mini-games, they really make you think, something a true puzzler craves, and it breaks up the monotony. I actually find the games that are strictly "hidden object" to be boring, such as the new Blood Ties. In fact, I just posted a new topic to suggest that Big Fish put out a game with only the mini-games from both Madame Fate and Ravenhurst. I'd buy that game WITHOUT even trying the trial version first! Congratulations Big Fish, you've achieved an honor well-deserved!

People who think this game is "too tough" for a hidden object game really surprise me! Admittedly, maybe this would be better classified as a mixed hidden object/puzzel/word game ... but that's not an existing catergorie, and this is undeniably much more of a hidden object game than a puzzel or word game. I really enjoy hidden object games except for the fact that most of them become too predictable after only a day or two. This one has kept my interest for at least two weeks and I still haven't solved the last puzzel ... any help would be great.

Your idea for a game composed of the puzzles and minigames is interesting; but I must admit I am also a story junkie. You might like some of the games that let you play the minigames like Azada or Hidden Secrets The Nightmare.

Have fun!

So, two people did not like this game. That's why there is more than one flavor of ice cream! For anyone reading this with the thought of buying, be assured that if you like mental stimulation and like variety, this game is the best ever! I certainly hope that there will be many more to follow. As a matter of fact, I hope to hear there will be a new one soon. Someone posted that they have enjoyed playing multiple times. I may do that, but would love something new but similar better.

I absolutely LOVE this game. The hidden objects are fun to find, and I especially like to combine or change the items for the final answer. The word games are a nice challenge and a rest from looking for hidden objects. But my very favorites are the games at the end of each section. These are the most original and clever challenges I've ever seen. The fact that no instructions are given add an extra layer to the puzzle. First you have to figure out what the puzzle wants you to do, then solve it. These puzzles are lightyears beyond the tower or peg puzzles of other games that get so boring. I can't wait for the next edition of Mystery Case Files!

Good afternoon ...

I downloaded the freebie to see if i'd like it and I can't even get it STARTED! I chose the first word game, double clicked on it and then NOTHING HAPPENED.

How do I advance to the next screen?

Thanks!

Are you talking about Madame Fate? It doesn't start with a word game. It starts at the door of the gypsy wagon, click play. You go to the attraction board and the first attraction is highlighted. Click the Investigate button at bottom right. You then go to the midway. If it's a different game, what game?

I have played so many HO games and I must say that they are all pretty much the same EXCEPT for MF and Ravenhurst. Now these 2 games really give you something to think about. You know, get those little gray cells working. I have not only enjoyed playing the mini games, the jig saw puzzles, but the fun in finding the items is sometimes just down right fun. I feels like such a dope when I have to use a hint and find I had been staring at the item all along. Along the way in working these puzzles, I have met so many nice people with the same interests on this forum. They laugh with me and ease my frustrations. You see, many of you have the same old eyes that I have. I feel as though I have spent my money wisely because of the people on the forum. They help, give advice and calm this crazy old lady down. I am so sorry that you think that MF is crap. That's okay. I think that some of the games are crap too. Just not my cup of tea. But if you give this game a real try, with a little help, you may like it. But if you don't and decide not to try, that's okay too. We all have so many opinions on all so many different things. All I can say is I'm glad that I bought the game because it has opened up a wonderful new world for me

In the MCF series I started with Huntsville to Prime Suspects to Ravenhurst to Madame Fate, and the the games went from good better great to best game ever, and thats what I think of the MCF GAMES.

I agree with forensicMD about the flavors of ice cream. LOL! I LOVE Madame Fate, but I'm also in the apparent minority, at least on these boards, that intensely dislikes Azada. Oh well, so it goes!! :D
