With all the games that don't work properly lately I'm coming to the conclusion that it has something to do with the Game Manager - rather than always our computers.

I played a demo of this game a few months ago and it was very glitchy for me so I don't think you can put the blame on the Big Fish game manager.

This one isn't the only game people have problems with. There has been a whole bunch of HOGs that have recently come out that a lot of people had issues with.
I've been with for a while now and I've never seen so many technical posts for games as we've had in the last 2 or 3 weeks.

For those running XP (especially on older machines):

It's probably your graphics card. I had the same black screen problem with Curse of the Ghost Ship, a game I never did get to run ("Nightmare" won't even install, but it sounds like I'm not missing much). After trying everything else (uninstalling and reinstalling the game, Flash, and Shockwave; checking Dell for driver updates), I ran an ActiveX diagnostic for BFG when I filled out my Problem Report (Run --> dxdiag); the rep told me that the game didn't work with certain cards (I have an nVidia GeForce 9800GT on my 6-year-old Inspiron B130 laptop). Unless the game programmers provide a fix (which they seem reluctant to do of late), there are some games you won't be able to run without a newer card.

Or, you can try your luck on a different games site, which is looking more tempting by the day...

I'm just saying in this game's case, it had problems before coming to BFG.

I have XP and it's slow to load and slow between moving scenes. Will this problem be fixed?

Hi there. Has anybody had trouble activating this game? Am running on XP and played the trial successfully, bought the game and activation failed - error 703. Might be a game manager issue as this went to a blank window. Restart and uninstall/reinstall produced same result.

Update. Use of the "unlock" button on the program action menu (All Programs) did the trick for the stalled activation. Never needed it before but might be useful if it happens to anybody else.

Running Xp. I can play, but locks up constantly and have to reboot. Looks like a good game. Too bad.

Sad to see so many problems with this game, I am haveing the same problems, running XP and at first wouldn't get past the first loading, after that I got to the start of the game and got throught the first video and then it took over one minute to get to the "toolbox" window and then went to the door and the screen went back to "loading" and would never come back! Graphics and game style were not any better than several other games I have that do not give me problems. Deleted the game and will not miss it.

You are not alone Ebec. I just finished my third try--can't get past "Loading." I also use XP. Hope someone figures this out--I'm eager to try this one.

Hi everyone!

Thanks for reporting the trend with Nightmare on the Pacific locking up while loading, especially when running XP. I'd recommend checking for any available system updates by following the steps in our Game Crashing, Freezing, or Blank Screen help article, but please be sure to contact our Customer Support team as well.

This way they can gather relevant information that can be shared with the game's developer. Customer Support can be reached by clicking on the green envelope on the right-hand side of this page and then on the "Contact Us" section on the bottom left of the next page. Once you've entered your question and clicked to "Check for Answers," you'll be led to our Help pages. If these haven't helped, your question can be submitted from here.

If you're a Big Fish Game Club member, you can also connect to one of our Live Chat representatives from 9:30am-4:30pm PST Monday-Friday. To get started, just visit your “My Game Club" page.

Thanks!

I have Windows 7 and it ran just fine at first, then when I tried to play again it stopped for me, too, at the loading screen. I do get a video of the ship with lightning and rain, but it just hangs there. I have to bring up Task Manager to get out of it. It's eaten up so much of my demo time I am giving up on it altogether. Didn't much like what I saw in the first 15 minutes anyway.

have downloaded the game twice, tried to start it in XP numerous times. the opening movie plays fine, the music is great, gets stuck on LOADING... even let that run for about 20 minutes to see what would happen but did not go beyond that point. looks like a good game and i'd really like to play it!

Played part of the game and came back a couple of hours later to continue and I am stuck at the grate where you have to turn the water off - It will not let me put the parts together (although, I had already gone passed this part of the game successfully at my first go around).

This game worked fine for 34 minutes then crashed unexpectedly at the locked door outside the casino. When I went back in, I was back at the pool where Bobby was stuck. I had lost about 20 minutes of progress.

Hi All,
This is how I got my game to run!
I had the same problem as most of you. My free trial minutes were ticking away while had the enjoyment of watching a black screen with the word "loading" in the center.
I also wondered if it was my PC or video card??

So I decided to download the free trial for the exact same game at iWin games. (not sure if I can use their name or not) but anyway, another gaming site.

Voila!! The game worked!
So it's NOT MY PC BigFish! They tend to use that excuse over and over and over....

The game does take a few mins to load (3-4 mins on my PC) but after that, no problems playing it.

I'm not sure if any of you other fishies out there remember a couple of weeks back when BF offered another game "Curse of the Ghostship"? This game had the exact same problem, black screen with never ending loading. BF removed this game I'm sure because of so many complaints.

So find out for youself, is it YOUR PC???

I'm having the same problem, after downloading I try to play the game, and after the intro in goes in loading and that's it, doesn't move at all. Very exasperating. I also went to IWin and downloaded the game, but got the exact same result as I did when I downloaded on Big Fish.......there are plenty of other sites and I might try once more.....hopefully I'll get a better result......maybe the 3rd times the charm!!!!!

Mac player here. I didn't have any major glitches until the end. I had what I consider a minor glitch all the way through the game - the last line of dialogue would stay stuck to the bottom of the screen and took a while to go away. As I said not a big problem until the end game. Dialogue with Denise(?) stuck on the bottom of the screen and after I fixed the phone I saw my hand pick up the receiver and then......nothing. Stuck. Backed out of phone and went back in. Same thing. I finally noticed a pale link on the bottom right of the screen, something along the lines of "click here to progress dialogue". Clicked it, Denise finished her dialogue with her brother and then I could make a phone call. Pshew. I thought I was gonna miss the ending. Just thought I should let you know.

Real discouraged with this version of the game.
I too had downloaded the premium version from another gaming place and it worked fine.
Now BFG has it and it wont work on my computer.
It lets me find hidden objects and click them but...when it comes to the water shut off...huh uh...it wont let me place the wheel pieces together....so jimmy drowned in my book.....this again isnt my first problem running HOG and who ever said
there were a lot of issues reported in the past 3 weeks is correct.
Please stop the graphic card comments...all of us complaining have had the game running from another place
Not graphic card problem its BFG
