Swimming against the current seems to be my role here in the Pond. This game is lovely to look at and truly scary in places -- the introduction of the doll had me jumping out of my chair. The ambience is outstanding but the play is quite linear and very easy. In this game, you need X, you find X, you use X. For many games I need to develop my own site map and a list of tools needed for play. I needed neither for this game. I do not want to sound like an elitist snob -- I am just an average player. It is, as always, a matter of personal taste. Perhaps I'll purchase as an SE but the CE is definitely not for me. There is just not enough challenge to this game.

Yippy Ky Yay, a new HOG. It is an oasis in a dry and thirsty land. I am a big fan of TM but none of them have really grabbed me lately, so this game is the right one at the right time. Love it!!!!!11

love it
i too am a member of the dark and eeirie club
only gripe was the blooming great spider in it
why oh why do developers have to put them in their games
as a lot of people me included are scared stiff of spiders
apart from that
a good game

Thanks for all for the great reviews! Of course I bought it last night; I just wanted to read the regulars reviews before I delved into the game. Thanks again Goofyduck, casualgran and all my other favs. Great day!

I see your point, it is very linear; however, I love linear because I have mild OCD even when it comes to finding H0's. I find them in order on the list. That's why it takes me longer because I am compelled to find them in order.

Glad there will be a decent SE game, as the bonus on this appears not to be worth the CE. At least I know there will be a decent game to look forward to in a few weeks.

Very well done game. I'd seen it on the developers site and was hopig that BFG would have it soon. It was worth the CE price (although not the developers price about 20.00)
Well constructed game, good ideas, well completed thought through story line that kept you pretty tied into the game story, not just the game play.
The graphics were excellant, the game play really arresting. The usual running around finding things to open things but so many different kind of locks and items to look for. The straight HOG scenes got to be a bit of a yawner for me though,,,guess I've grown out of straight HOG or something. But if you still really like the , the HOG scenes are very welll done and very fair to the eye. No squinting necessary, you do need to focus, but items aren't shrunk and are appropriate to the scene they are in for the most part.
I loved the dollhouse itself. What a great idea! Could have had a lot more of that.
The ending was exceptional..won't give it away. It'll tug at your heart.
In all, this is the kind of game we've been waiting for.
Now there is one called mystery of the red fox I'd like to see in here...........

WOW FANTASTIC!!!!! Just finished the game after playing it almost all day (took my time). It's definitely worth the $$ on this one and Alawar ROCKS!! Just wanted to add that it is nice coming to the forums and reading the comments and having a Moderator jumping in during the discussions (BFGDon). The games have really been horrible lately and I'm trying to stay with BFG but it's been a tough decission lately. I love BF but boy the choices lately really stink!!!! Enjoy the game everyone

Very good graphics but I've just finished The Stroke of Midnight and the graphics are so beautiful in this one, that, in this game, I'm a little disappointed. I love the little "doll" that's here to help you, though it made me jump to start with...
It's great to have this game after so many TM, but I still hesitate. Will probably buy, but I get the strange feeling that I should wait for the SE, didn't feel that for Shadow Wolf, I dived head first. Will wait for other comments, I don't remember how many chapters there was in the SG, all I know is that I was in chapter 3 when I left.
Length please..........

Short! Did it in 2 hours, but fun.................

It's true the game is short but I can honestly say I truly wasn't disappointed I enjoyed every single moment of the game! It took me about 3 and 1/2 hours and that included the bonus material on the easy mode and it was just a lot of great fun all of it! I loved it!

hydrogibbon wrote:I just finished the demo and enjoyed it immensly. The game so far has been a bit easy and may be a little short but I'm liking the story and want to find out what happens so I'm going to buy it. I have to say I joined BF for the great inexpensive games and it seems like they've raised their prices by making all the good games collectors editions. There used to be an occasional one and now there seems to be several every month. This is definitely a good game and I'm going to buy it even though I don't quite think it's worth the CE price.

You can always wait for it to be released at the SE price...Just saying...

Well, last week I was looking for a spooky IHOG and since I've played just about everyone on BF I went to the dev site found this and bought it. IT'S DEFINITELY WORTH THE CE PRICE!! Spooky but not "can't play while you're home alone" spooky . Good music, excellent graphics, findable ****'s and mini games that you don't constantly need to run to the WT for. And it has a really awesome story line. It's on the lines of Dire Grove and RTR so if you like them you'll like this. I'm normally a bit let down on the bonus scenes that go with the CE's but this one took a little different twist. The little doll-thing gave me the creeps at first but he grew on me and I was a little sad at the end because of what happens to him. But I'm over it now and have moved on. The only negative thing I can say is that I've been waiting for BF to give us some good games this month and IMHO so far the only two games I've seen were games I've already purchased here or elsewhere.

Just finished it...Beautiful game, good story. I wished there were a few more puzzles...but...the puzzles the game did have were fun (especially one) reminded me of Ravenhurst.. Now, I hope we will get some decent SE,so I can use up my 4 credits that are sitting around collecting dust..

A very nice ihog- great graphic, very interesting storyline. But it seems very short for me (2-3 hours maybe) what makes it not worthy in my opinion for buying the CE- but I will buy surely the SE. If the gamelength would be better for a CE (4-6 hours), I would it bought it today.

Not much to add after reading Casual Gran and Goofyduck77. I always look for their comments because they are so good and through. I liked the story line and graphics were nice and crisp. Hint recharged fast too. A game i will buy..

I have to agree with nightmusk about the spiders. I HATE HATE HATE spiders. I usually click on them first to get rid of them if they are on the **** list. Guess that is why the game devs always put the creatures in the games, they know how many people get creeped out by a spider. Scorpions are second on my creepy crawler hit list. We have plenty of them in NM.

Already wrote in this forum and thanks for the answers about the length. BUT there's another thing : WHAT ON EARTH ARE MORPHING OBJECTS ???? Having read you comments, during my half hour demo I've been cliking madly all over the place, all I got was foggy screens !. Could you please tell me what I should look for ? My english isn't good enough to understand "morphing objects".................

My phobia would be in reverse of yours. Scorpions and then spiders. I live in Oklahoma and have quarterly pest control for scorpions. When I see a spider in my condo I know that scorpions will be next! Scorpions love to snack on spiders. They always have scorpions, spiders and snakes in every creepy game and I literally feel a little light headed when I see the scorpions.

Why do the good ones come out when my budget is hurting? Oh well, I played the demo just a short time and realized this is a buy for me when I can afford it.

Morphing Objects are objects that are one thing one minute and something else the next. An example would be a rose turning into a daisy and back to a rose, etc.
